Hi

Just received my new crash bars and thought for a change I would read the instructions:eek: when I cam across this statement at the bottom in small print: "...Please notebefore fitting: Guard-It-Technology crashbars are only designed ONLY for cosmetic purposes. Their use does not guarantee protection for the morotcycle or rider than would be available whilst using the motorcycle in standard trim...":confused::confused:

This maybe for legal purposes but they seem to offer more than just adding to the cosmetic looks:mmmm

Am i missing something:confused:

Manufacturers have to be sooo careful these days. I read somewhere that someone bought an Iron with a disclaimer on it which said "don't iron clothes while wearing them". Your crash bars are hardcore according to many users so fear not.

Agreed - cosmetically good and protective and hard core!!

Looking forward to seeing how you get on 'cause they're on my chrissy prezzie list :drool

never mind the disclaimer you'll find they are as thick as the bike frame. Yet in a tumble will bend just enough so as not to damage the mount points. Under the black paint they are an engineering work of art. :thumb

I've had 2 offs now with the Aventure Spec Bars onto tarmac and both on the right hand side. All I can say is the bars work a treat and have saved ££££'s in replacemnt BWM plastics & bits.

Don't worry - they are well worth the money.

If there was customs duty I missed it! Price was as quoted on website about £190 with p&p.

Off for a ride tomorrow so I thought I would wash the bike and fit the bars. Then realised that I need soemthing caller a T50 Torx bit to undo the head bolt from the frame - this was instruction number 2:blast:blast:blast. Is there a reason why normal allen key type bolts are not used? Can I get a T50 Torx bit from a normal hardware shop? Now the offroad trip will have to be delayed to Sunday which is when SWMBO wants to go to the seaside:mad::mad::mad:

Well there is no point in just saying how good the crash bars are so I went out this weekend with my stunt double 'Rudiemoto' and got him to bin the bike on some rocks. :augie

It's also a testament to how tough the Ortlieb soft panniers are. I had 5 falls myself that day. One of which was in a ford. :augie. My down sleeping bag was perfectly dry despite the pannier being completely submerged in the water for a few minutes. I did leave the other one slightly open which meant the rain made my fleece wet :blast but if you do close them properly they are amazingly tough. :clap

sweet footage jon! it's because you shaved all your hair off mate, it's called the samson effect. grow it back and you'll reduce your off-frequency considerably. how was austria?

Si that's not me... That's my stunt double on here also known as Rudiemoto. He does all the dangerous stunts and I just do the pieces with the leading ladies, the dinner jacket scenes that kind of thing. Austria was great as always. Hot, sunny and divine food and company :D
