Almost finished my tank conversion yesterday with no problems except when I came to attach the Adventure tank plastic trim panels with the new brackets ordered using the part numbers in a couple of "how to articles" (which helped immensely)
My problem is the 2 brackets I have received for attaching the front of both trim panels clearly are not correct - one looks nothing like the part in one of the articles I have used from the web so I suspect that part has been incorrectly supplied.
However - further reference to the "how to" articles shows the trim panels have a fixing point towards the seat end needing the screw and captive nut "thing" I have received ( no problem) BUT my trim panels then have a mounting hole at the front plus a mounting point along the top edge. In addition, with the beak attached there is no way the trim panels will fit at all. Refering again to the "How to" article on the Adventure Rider site shows a different style of trim panel.
So am I correct in thinking that there must be another different year adventure trim panel that I now need. The part number on both panels I have is as follows
4663 7706288-02 and 4663 7706287 - 02

Does the 02 refer to the year? I should mention that I am modifying an 05 reg GS1200 and the tank and panels I bought, came with "bronze" coloured top panel and metal side panels

Regards
