i have fitted an adventure top box but when i gave it a reassuring shake it come off the rack as if the rear lockable clip wasnt holding it . i noticed some flex in the rear rack where the clip grips it but no splits . anyone else had this . i should mention that i bought it all second hand and the rear rack came off a damaged 1150adv in riders :jager

Safety Wire

I've never trusted mine as it came off one time on a semi-rough road and bounced. I use a safety wire, wired to one of the case screws and one around the mount. Each has a loop on the end and I pass a bolt with a wingnut thru the two loops so I can still quickly take the case off if need be. I just don't trust the clamp thing. The case was used and the mount is new, as is the clamping/hook mechanism. When I bought the case it looked new, but now has some minor cosmetic damage from the ejection. That's what stickers are for, right? I also have a bungy wrapped around it, which is holding on a Volvo headrest that acts as a backrest for my pillion, when I have one. It acts as a second failsafe and passengers seem to like it. The gray matches the TT seat too.

Mine slides forward and backwards with lots of pressure, the movement is a good distance but there is absolutely no chance of it coming off. There is no side to side movement.

I have done minor to medium level offroading and never had any concern, I even binned it in the mud with the side panniers on at probably 20ish and they all stopped where they should have, possibly due to the overlander kits. I did loose a pannier foot and gain a few dings thought. :D
