I don't think I get it!!

These bikes are supposed to be made for it but they also cost around 10k stirling.

I would never want to damage my bike and would never seroiusly take it anywhere that may damage it.

I suppose in the photo the track looks harmless enough and hopefully you didn't intend to end up in the position you did but was you completely gutted??

I should imagine if Flying GS is anything like the rest of us he'll have spent the first five minutes laughing his head off :D

Good pics :thumb :D

They're made for it in the same way that an X5 is made for serious off road school runs! I reckon the 1200 is a great road bike in an "off road" style.

There are a lot of places to explore that bikes with a typical road going aspect just aren't any fun to have there...

They may cost a lot of money, and the risk of scratching them up is greatly elevated when you are at some of these places, but the adventure is so worth the effort.

I could say it's not about the bike here, about how it's all about the advanture, but that's not completely true either... If it was, a 600cc bike with proper offroad capabilities would be preferred... The bigger GS's are definately road bikes first, but they can do decent "lesser track" type stuff a lot better than other kinds of bikes... And they can make distance on the slab a lot better than proper dirtbikes...

I really do think my new bike is a great thing, but when I see a road that looks like a lot of fun to ride on, the fear of scratching it up a bit (or breaking a bit of plastic off) is going to be in second place to my wish to experience the adventure...

I'll cry about the wear and tear after the fact...
