Need some help here as I can't remember my old 600 giving me this much grief. I'm trying to plot an off road route on basecamp using GB Topo map that is on an sdcard installed on my montana. Now I have planned lots of routes on basecamp but for some reason this is doing my head in. I want it to route me on BOATs but regardless of what activity I choose it keeps avoiding off road lanes, even in direct routing mode! I and stumped or can't remember how to use a montane with basecamp.

You'll have to use tracks not routes.

It won't route you over anything that isn't a road. You can either manually draw, as a track the whole route by click and drag, or you can draw the off road sections as above then use basecamp to calculate the road sections then join the sections.

And it doesn't matter what device your GB Topo map is in, other than speed. I usually either create a virtual drive on the computer (fastest) or stick the SD card in a card reader, which will be quicker then reading from the GPS.
