Hi there,
I'm after some advice concerning my 2005 1200gs with just less than 11000 miles on it.
The problem I have is when I’ve engaged 1st gear and release the clutch I get a loud "clonk" sort of noise as I presume the drive engages (similar sound to engaging a gear), some time when you slow down and accelerate off again I get the same noise. It does not have to be in any particular gear for this to be apparent. It appears to come from the off side just behind the engine but I could not be 100% sure on that. It was not until I took a test ride on a GSA I realised they do not all do this.
Any Ideas?

My 06 with 6,000 miles, is clunky on and off the throttle, at low speeds...........Character I call it.............especially with a two year warranty.........:D

This sounds like a u/j joint going home, either the one at the g/box end or the bevel box. take the box off and check the shaft for play. Or take it to your friendly dealer (?). Don't ignore it it won't go away.
dave gs ( riding the upgrade 1150gs) the truth is out there.
