Hi all,
I'd be interested in your experience with the following. I have from my previous bike (2001 K1200 RS) a great set of Bagster tank bags (model omega) which zip on top of each other and carry about 40 litres of stuff.

Bagster says it doesn' tfit their tank cover, but all tank covers have standard attachments at bagster.

BMW dealer tells me it fits, but may "touch" the handlebars on slow manoeuvres.

I hesitate to buy the tank cover for my 1200 GS.

Any comments appreciated. I have camping trip this week end in West Sussex , and I'll be LOADED!

Val,
I think I know what you're getting at. I know the mounting points on my bagster bag are the same as my old 1150, but I think they are closer together.

The bag I got for the 1200 is alot smaller than my old 1150. I reckon the fit on the 1200 is better.

One of my first accessories for the new job was the bagster.

Did it

I bought the Bagster tank cover for my 1200GS and fitted my double bag kit.

Result is GREAT. It does touch when handlebars are all the way left and right, but only occurs at very low speeds, hence not a problem

Very confortable set up, no trouble reading tach/speedo

I got one

I have a bagster tank cover for my R12GS

The picture below is of the "alpha" bag. Side to side with the handlebars was not a problem for me (aside from the ocassional toot of the horn). However I was not fond of having the bag so close to my stomach.

I think you'll want to investigate smaller bags from bagster and possibly even some other brand of tank bag altogether.

I recently mounted a smaller bag (a chicane baja bag). It's a great size. I was able to simply attach key rings to the front of the new bag to attach in the front. I called bagster and they were kind enough to mail me 2 of the "wedge clips" for free. I took these clips to my local cobbler along with some nylon strapping and the cobbler rigged up the clips and strap so that I can now attach the bag's clips to the bagster tank cover. Very easy.

I'll see if I can snap a couple photos of the new clips and mounting.

Here's the Chicane tear drop "Baja" bag:

Sam,
I see you've done the 'bouncing topbox' mod. Nice one! I simply ditched mine, I must admit, they still look good.

Nice bike colour choice, same as mine :D

I've also ran with the H & B engine and tank bars, nice fit and strong.
