tyring to adjust suspension on the rear of a 2005 gs
everything was going fine until i tried to adjust the damping . the screw adjuster was very stif tried a bit more force now the screw just spins freely. the question is can these units be rebuilt if not have found a low milage rear shock but this is from a 2009 adventurer would this fit ok
thanks in advance for any info

zounds like somethings gone ping in your preload adjuster im afraid.the adventure shock is longer than the standard gs so no good for you.
get a second hand gs shock or treat yerself to a wilburs,or if money no object an ohlins.

I'm not sure how much longer an Adventure shock is but it'd be good to hear from someone who has fitted one to an early GS and retained the original front one. Pre '08 bikes had relatively relaxed steering geometry and the usual quick fix to get them to achieve a decent rate of turn was to jack the preload on the rear up to maximum. An Adventure shock might just do away with the need for that....:nenau

thanks for the advice its saved me making another costly mistake me thinks i will have to start saving

Go to Revs Racing the Wilbers importer. They can properly set up he shock in length preloaded & damping. They are the dog's wotsit. Well worth the money.
