Well you're having your 5min of fame and we're all listening. Why not start a new thread and tell us your 'GS story'. When you bought it, miles done, faults - the lot.
This would be a much better approach than spamming the technical threads.............unless you just want to annoy people.
I have done so many times, search through the threads I've started. I don't however spam the technical section.

I don't think you're telling the truth.You have made all of 19 posts on this site - a real expert - and you only join this month - wow what an asset. If you hate BMW and the GS so much, I'm surprised that you even bothered to register(I see you didn't pay any subscription)
. New members/owners don't need to read the drivel you have posted to try and put them off THEIR choice of motorbike. Why don't you do us all a favour and go and join UKstepthru.com instead. You shouldn't have any problems with them as they're made by a reputable company who will listen to your gripes on a one to one basis and refund all your money if you are not happy with their product even after 4 years of ownership 
Wander a few of the other bike forums and you'll find all have skeletons in their cupboards.

I travel 150 miles to buy from them, why? As they look after me.
My mate traded an 05 gs in for an 06 gsa.
The final drive had gone on the 05gs when he took it in but he didnt know.
They replaced it - enough said.
Im sure that you will have no problems taking it back.
Hopefully when this chap who slags gs s off gets rid next week he will
go away and stop the scaremongery.

You laid out thousands of pounds on a bike after being influenced by 2 actors. Did you not do more research than that before you parted with your hard earned cash?

I heard a story of a bike with similar history and it was pretty obvious that the guy involved had no mechanical sympathy i.e. rode like a cnut.
The dealers were a bit light hearted about the issues because they didn't want to tell the punter the facts of life.
I know bikes should be 'squaddie' proof but shaft drive needs a smoother approach - for safe riding if nothing else.
I always think BMW gearboxes are clunky because they are heavy duty.
Not many jap bikes knock out 75 ft lb torque at 3000 revs (ish) for 100,000 miles

hi all, i certainly stirred up a hornets nest when i opened this thread daint i!!!, anyway, yeah i dealt with steve wong at wollaston, and its gotta be said he was the only bloke to ring me back in my quest for a low mileage gs and it had to be in rock red!!, and the guy delivered on the money everything i asked for and on time no messing!!!!, and today after a phonecall to service by 3 oclock a guy called dave was here to collect my bike to take it back to wollaston to get it sorted!!!, so even tho they or myself dont know what the problem is untill its stripped down they certainly appear to be striving for customer satisfaction!!
you could argue the case that maybe "it should of been picked up on the pdi?", but when the bike arrived i did a short journey of about 15 mile and it was perfect in every way!!, but after a journey of over 100 miles that is when the problem decided to show itself, so how could they have picked that up on a test ride??, they aint about to go that far on a test ride are they!!.............so so far they still get my vote!!
and as for firing my gs off to ebay, sorry mate id rather shove wasps up me arse!!!:cool, when i bought my gs , the amount of research i did, justified my eyes being WIDE open to all the faults that go with them!!!, thats what a warranty's for!!!!!

I dont think theres a mechanical object on the planet thats 100% reliable, (space shuttle anyone how much money can you throw at it and it still crashes) except those that are never used.

i bought my 04 1200gs in jan this year, it had done 13500 miles. traded in an 06 Fazer thou. the noises at first used to frighten me stupid, it does sound like a bag of spanners at times
Some of the threads about ring failures fuel pump failures etc almost had me reaching for my wallet to buy the spares(never carried any on my previous 14 bikes). then someone said just ride it and stop worrying, so i did
just got back from france, did approx 1400 miles in 3 days no probs bar a puncture which we repaired and managed to do 500 miles home, just fitted new tyre. It was absolutely superb and i love it to bits, i've got the TT in a couple of weeks and a trip round europe in july. If anything gives up then so be it, its all character building.
So go ahead and ride it dont worry about it.

howdy all!!!, wollaston been on the phone today they say they can definatly hear the noises im on about, and they've been all over it, and they reckon it could be that being as the bike came into them from another dealer they dont know how stringent the other dealer in question is with using the correct oils, and possibly they havnt used the right oil in the gearbox, which would have been changed at 6k, and the mileage now is 7k, failing that its the bearings, which there willing to change but have asked if i will run it with the new oil, and see how i get on
cant argue with that.

No G-R you just asked a few questions, most peeps tried to help you.
Trouble is you always get one in every group. 41 years on two wheels and the 1200 is the best bike i have EVER had.

They say the GS is a bike you either love or hate, with no middle ground, and reading this I can see exactly what they mean.
Let's keep some sense of balance here, it's easy to say Marvelous Thingies is a troll so don't listen to him, but the problems with BMW 1200GS's are well documented.
Personally I bought a 20K miler from a member of this site to find out afterwards that he had had a lot of warranty work (I think from memory it was a couple of final drives, a gearbox, a clutch and a front engine cover, but may have been more). Since then I've put another 30k miles on it and haven't really had any big problems other than the front engine cover paint sripping off and a few broken centre stand pivots (No longer under warranty, so hammerited the front engine cover and made up stronger stand pivots myself). Over the time I've used it I haven't been over happy with the finish, to the point that I won't use it in the winter (Have an R1100RT for that) and silly little things like badly designed switchgear (left side cluster always seems to come lose) make me feel BMW have changed from a premium brand to another mass producer (I've run BMWs for 20 years and this is the first time I've seriously wanted to change to another make for primary transport).
I've recently bought a KTM Adventure, after watching so many defectors from UKGSER to the Austrian side. My plan is to ride both this year and see which I gravitate towards. First impressions are that the BMW is gentle and soft which will be good for longer journeys but the KTM has the advantage in both power and handling when I just want to go out and hoon. They are two very different bikes so this should be an interesting year.
As for Ghost Rider, he's done the right thing - he's bought what he wants! For the record I've used Wollaston for many years and would recommend them based on my experiences, although some have different stories to tell.
Good luck with the GS, hope it is only the gearbox oil!
