Hi, having only owned R80rs's in the 1980's, I'm looking at 650 Dakars and would love any advice on what to look out for on 02, 03 or '04 models.
What are common faults, quick wearing items or expensive bits that might get worn?
And how would I check to see if they are in need of replacement.
I hear the head bearings are a bit poor, how do I tell?
any advice would be gratefully recieved.
Richard

A search of this forum and over at f650.co.uk will tell you all you need to know.

head bearing tel tale is the same for all bikes, difficult to turn, play in the race, noise, sticking etc etc.

great bikes, and really are a do it all bike, dont ever think they wont tour or do the distance thing, very economical, expect 65/70 mpg, lots of farkle bits to add on.

that goes for both the dakar and gs models.
