Advice on GS purchase Please

I had the Pan 1300 for 2 years and now the 1200gs.
The Pan was great for long distance IE Europe blasting but the GS is lighter, better for short runs, gets down the lanes and weighs loads less.
The Pan is over engineered on the build side to me adding weight.
Down side to the GS for me is wind blast even with big screen and winglets but I am 6'5"
Mines an 04 model so had some issues and warranty work but nothing I couldn't ride with.
Also pillion happier on GS if you have one.

Listen to Birdseye

Birdseye speaks total sense. GS are great fun to ride. But are not in anyway the reliable 'see the world' bikes that their marketing suggests. As a tool for the job the Pan is better. Personally I prefer the ride over the GS for at least some of the time. I found the GS engine a bit wheezy and crude (I was coming off an R1). The Pan engine is superior and better engineered.
So the Pan is more reliable and more sophisticated and the KTM more fun. That leaves the GS right in the middle which is a fine place to be, aside from the faults and BMW's 'what faults' attitude. So not a fine place to be at all. I would put the Pan against the KTM - that is a better debate than considering an '04 GS.
