Advice on heated grips 1150 GS

I have got a 1150 gs reg 2000and i want to put BMW heated grips on so i have bought a second hand switch and grips, any way looked at the new swich got all the controls exept the light switch all there is is a removable cover. My question is can i put my light switch on the second hand switch and will it work.

I had a pair of grips the same. As far as I know you can't fit the switch on; the lights will be on all the time like on the European bikes. No real issue unless you NEED a switch.
