Hi, currently have a standard heated seat on max height on my gs 1250. Suffering a bit from achey knees and tender bum and with a 2 week trip coming up looking at upgraded seat options.
I’ve been told about wunderlich seats. Is the standard wunderlich seat (seen some for 2nd hand) an improvement in comfort and height? I’d rather a new seat than lowering pegs.
Also a side note, the height adjuster bracket on the front, the black rubber gromets are quite loose, they meant to be stiff? And are there any kits/upgrades to raise height with them

Many thanks

Try, front bit of seat on high, back bit on low, worked for me when I did a total of 64,000 miles on my 1250 GSA.

Unless you've tried that?

Thanks for reply. I actually haven’t tried that, currently both front and back on high. sorry for the ignorance but how’s that help? Take pressure off the knees ?

Many thanks

Yes it did for me as it made the seat flatter re arse, but also fitted SW Motech lower pegs re knees, perfect combo. 6ft 6in here.

The lowered pegs, do they effect the brake and gear lever much or the lean angle limit

Cheers

I can't comment on whether the Wunderlich seat is an improvement in height as I fitted a low Wunderlich seat to my R1250GS which made it a bit lower than the standard low seat. TBH i thought it was going to be uncomfortable, as its quite firm, but I have to say that having now done quite a few long trips since fitting it a few years back, I really do find it quite comfortable plus it also does support my lower back as Wunderlich suggest. On mine I also have a cool cover fitted, which probably adds a bit to comfort, but overall, I'm very happy with mine and find it much better than the OEM seat.

As already mentioned try the front on high and the back on low, I found it reduced the pressure and helped. As for the knees I fitted fastaway pegs think it adds about 10mm extra distance no issue with the gear change or brake but these can both be adjusted easierly. Have you tried a cool cover? This adds a few mm to the seat and I find helps with comfort as well.

Think this is horses for courses. I had to lower both gear and brake to make it comfortable(size 12 boot)As for lean angle,no change to angle.

I raised the front of mine by purchasing these ( off set seat lowering bungs) but set them to raise the seat further, rather than lower the seat.
Unfortunatley they somtimes vibrate round to the low position so it glued mine back to the high position which works.

These Gromets come attached to an elastic rubber strap which bolts just behind the bar they attach to, as in image below: 4 usually come with bike seat.
Available from Motorworks.

Try a Cool Cover. It adds extra height and width (approx 10mm in all directions) and and distributes weight more effectively. Also provides very efficient cooling and water drainage.

I went from standard to Wunderlich and it made zero difference to me (really dissapointing) so returned and luckily I got a sargent seat secondhand and its been the best by far. I can spend way longer on the bike

However I'm 130kgs so not a disney princess which I reckon makes a diffference

As others have said H at front and L at back (even if you swap out the standard)

Lower pegs

I also lifted the bars

No problems now
