I am thinking of replacing my shocks on my 1150 with wilbers. How firm is the ride as I am looking for my shock to just glide over bumps as though they weren't there. I have heard that the wilbers can be a little firm, I have a slightly dodgy hip and prefer to have my suspension on the slightly softer side.

They are multi-adjustable and can be bought set up for your weight and riding style. Never heard a bad word about them, to be honest.

I've just ordered both front & rear from Every Accessory near Birmingham.

They offer 10% to forum members. Do a search, and a number on here are very pleased indeed. I did research before committing to them....Looking forward to getting my hands on 'em.

Wilbers Suspension

Recently purchased Wilbers from Every Accessory in Birmingham too, fitted them and they are fine. No complaints, good value and good product.

Excellent product, very pleased, ordered direct from Wilbers in Germany as cheaper option.

As others have said they will build them to whatever spec. you want, but it depends on the operational range you want. If one end of the spectrum is rider only no luggage and the other end is two up fully laden then that is a lot of range for any suspension to cope with, especially if you are wanting something erring towards soft as the solo option.

You may need to spec up some slow and high speed compression damping in addition to the preload but the more adjustability you build in the harder, in some ways, it will be to tune the suspension to how you want it - although you will have more choice.

My Wilbers are certainly firmer than my stock 1150adv shocks, but then that's what I wanted.

I put wilbers on my 1200gs, so that my bike would be lowered as i'm vertically challenged..........they have a made the world of difference to my bike... its feels more planted and the ride is a lot smoother... like riding a different bike........go for it they are worth every penny..................janie

I'm well pleased with mine, just tell them what you want and they'll set it up to suit your weight and riding style so it's ready to go out the box:thumb2

I expect to be happy with mine when the replacement ones arrive. The first ones were despatched in error, specced for an 1150R instead of a GS.

I was quoted £800 as the price for a set of Ohlins for my bike.

What sort of price are pair of Wilbers shocks ? No prices listed on the Birmingham website.

Are Wilbers rebuildable, and at what sort of price ?

Excellent product! I've had mine for over a year now: standard front with preload and rear with slow and high speed compression damping in addition to the preload. Used one up and two up fully laden with no problem and no sign of high speed weaving.

You have to fiddle about with the rear preload and damping adjustment to suit your circumstances....I haven't dared touch the preset slow and high speed compression damping as it glides over the bumps.

Expensive but highly recommended and yes, they are rebuildable.

Have a word with "PeteMate" at Every Accessory: he knows what he's talking about.

Had mine fitted by MC technics in stowmarket 15k miles ago for approx £1000 and like everyone else says, it totally transformed the bike from a Landrover to a rangerover. The guys there really know how to set them up and spent quite while getting it right.

Thye recommend servicing/overhaul evey 15k miles and then they should go on for ever.
