I have a question for you knowledgable bunch, I’m thinking of purchasing a cockpit infill panel for my R1250GS (2019) to try and reduce the tyre and engine noise that comes up through the gap and becomes slightly annoying even with my plugs in, mostly only when riding with my visor or chinbar up though, if anyone can shed some light to if it helps would be very useful info and also if the wunderlich item is worth the massive additional cost over the cheaper copied alternatives. I also think that tyre choice also make a big difference and I’m currently on Bridgestone A41’s which I know aren’t perfect but they’ll have to stay until their done at which point I’m going to swap to conti trail attacks, or we could just resurface all the roads in north Wales with super smooth grippy tarmac 🤔 a bit costly but actually not a bad idea, I wish hey !!

IMO, buy the cheap copy. It's a piece of plastic to reduce the noise - not necessary to overspend where you don't need to for the same thing where finish/quality/aesthetics aren't a consideration.

Does anyone have any experience on whether it actually works?

The only thing I hate about my GS is the noise coming up the steering tunnel.

Ah ok, yes cheap makes me cheerful 😊 and if it helps it’s winner winner chicken diner hey 👌 is the noise reduction by a decent margin though ?

Yes.
Just buy one and fit and forget.

Deal done £7.59 off flee bay, I guess I’ll soon find out and thanks for you help 👍🏻

Hi Buzzbomb, I feel your pain. The noise, breeze and on occasion water droplets that are channeled through the fork tunnel on my gs were and still are a huge annoyance.Though I'm now somewhat resigned to its effects i have also pondered over the efficiency of the infill panel and its interesting to hear the comments of individual's who have taken the plunge. I run Michelin Road six's and find them a great tyre but they are noisey for sure.
Good luck with a solution,

Just fit the infill panel.

Be interested to see how it goes. I’ve been thinking about fitting one to my last 3 GSAs, but never actual got around to it.

It’s expected next week so all being well I’ll fit it soon after it arrives and post my thoughts 🤔 might be the best £7.59 I’ve ever spent, but I do lead a sheltered life haha 😎

Well done Buzzbomb, You've started a trend.
I've also bit the bullet. It will be well tested next February in your neck of the woods, at the Dragon Rally:)

Hi Buzzbomb if you haven’t fitted the infill panel yet a chap on u tube give a very good explanation on fitting it with out damaging any paint etc , look him up GSD321
And yes go for the eBay cheap one had mine fitted over 18 months with no problems.
Ian.

I bought a cheap one and works for me and been on with zero issues for 2 years now

I found the gap distracting and allowed more wind through

My noise issue was solved by changing tyres

I have a 1250 and A41’s. I ‘always’ have my earphones in though not necessarily playing music. I find them better than plugs.

I fitted the infill panel to my 2019 GSA. Took if off after one European trip as I found it increased buffeting on my helmet at motorway speeds. Must have changed the airflow by stopping some of the air coming through the gap at the forks (?! I’m much happier without it.

Everyone’s experience is different …. :nenau

Try cutting some cardboard and do a temporary fix - maybe that will tell you if it works for you

Ah yes I’ve always used either plugs or my ultimate ear monitors too, anything above town speed has always been too noisy for me, I also have another bike that is err quite LOUD 😳 probably because the Vance and Hines short shots are only 2 feet long haha but hey we have to suffer for our beliefs at times don’t we 😎

Interestingly the Cal Sci windscreens rely on a hole cut in the bottom of the screen to create negative pressure (or something like that). Had one on my FJR.
