Advice sort, long loads!

So I want to mount my push iron to my trusty steed. I have a rack, I have enough brain cells to make it work safely and so it does not obscure the lights. Is there a limit to the amount of overhang from the rear of a bike in the UK?

I don't know about actual law layed down in feet and inches but there is need for comon sence. Putting a cycle on a motorcycle no mater how well secured and placed has to do something to the overall balence and handling of the machine. Wheather that leaves a police officer to question the safety of such is your choice. If the cop thinks its danderous or unstable with the significant movement of balence he might refer you to the courts and let you prove that it's safe. You did ask JJH

If any part of the load is more than 1 mtr past the rear of the car it needs marking with something such as a red flag.

you need to check nose weights and tow ball weights there is a site somewhere but best to talk to a towbar specailist who knows car limits

Thanks all for the messages, yes I want to mount my bicycle (push iron in Yorkshire) to my motorcycle.
I want to do this so that I get to ride to a ride, ride my mountain bike and then ride home.
As my mtb weighs under forty pounds and I will be riding solo I don't see a massive issue with weight or structures, but thank you for the thought. My main concern is being pulled by the police.

If I really really had to bring a bike with me I would consider a trailer. Not anything like that picture. That can't be for real. Imagine a accident you would be wearing it for the rest of your natural. JJH
