Im now into my third month of a R1200Rt (non Lc) I've covered just short of 4 thousand miles (used for work) and I'm having issues with aching wrists, pins and needles ect.
This is my first touring bike, always had a sport and Gs before, however needed something with comfort.

Ive had the seat in the low position as I'm a short arse and really did not like the way the bike felt but had no issues with pins and needles, only dead legs after a while.

Moved the seat to the high position 50 miles starts getting the issues, problem is i ride until the bike needs topping up,time is off the essence. Also I'm getting a numb arse.

Now correct me if I'm wrong this is designed for all day comfort..How can raising the seat cause issues with my wrists when its lowered I'm ok with it??

Before i splash out on bars risers seat ect anyone any advice. Was thinking of tweaking the bars a little ect.

Thanks in advance.

Andy, you say you have moved the seat to the "high position" and now get pins and needles. You may have shifted your weight forward onto your wrists ?. When the seat is in the "low position" you have your legs bent more which may cause the "dead leg" you describe.

The cure to your troubles may be a mixture of both but I would suggest putting the seat back to the low position and a foot rest lowering kit, mainly because it's a cheaper option + you say you just have the leg problem and a "numb arse" in the low position, straightening the legs out a little should cure this. If the "numb arse" is still there then a Air Hawk seat cushion may help BUT try to borrow one first....They're expensive.

Thanks Jacal. Will try and see how it goes, does make sence. Silly but I feel the bike handles better set in the high seat but could just be me! Definite give it a go with the extended foot pegs.

You might feel that the bike handles better with the seat in the high position. This is because your body mass has more leverage and therefore more influence over changes in direction. If you don't already use counter steering it might help to try it. Jjh

Andy,

I suggest you sign up to the RT forum at R1200RT.com

There are plenty of chaps on there with lots of great advice on the RT, LC and TC. You may find similar sufferers...

Believe it or not you can't ride a bike without using "counter steering".....You'de go in a straight line and fall of when you tried to 'turn' it round a corner :rob;)

Sorry active counter steering when you actually push the left bar to go left ect. I think you know what I mean? Jjh

So how about seat in high position and bar risers. I also needed to use my airhawk when I had an R1200RT.

I wondered why I was going over the roundabouts instead of round them....need to try the counter steering method.....(sorry had to get the joke in!)
Yep will get on the other site see what others have done.im away from the bike for two weeks but once get back will try.
Going to try stay away from bar risers at the moe.the seat for my leg height is better in the low,I'm on tip toe on the high position but not overly worried about it as I prefer the riding position, but not the aches.

Tried bar risers on another bike years ago and it just threw everything off for me,shall test see how we go..
Thanks for all your replies.

Best ( and cheapest ) mod to my last few bikes has been Grip Puppies. Cuts out all vibration and wrist ache.
