Was chatting to friend today who has asked for help and advice on making and fixing a chair to scotter . He wants to take to France in summer and asked me if I knew about such things . Which I don't . So questions are . If building outfit which side for France ?? MOT ??? Legal requirements . And any where we can get advice . He happy to do all work . He bike mechanic by trade and will be using the garage in camper van to take it all to France plus 2 very small dogs . Thanks in advance . :confused

I would have thought the chair should go on the right side of the bike to use on the right side of the road :nenau

British registered, it has to be a lefty.

Yooro registered, it has to be a righty.

Doesn't matter if it will be UK reg but 100% used on Euro roads, unless it is a bike made before the lefty righty rules came in on 1st Sept 1981, it HAS to be left mounted.

It's a pile of cack, but there we go. :blast

As well as loads of other useful stuff there is a file marked
SC Driving - manuals by Hal Kendall
This has loads of info on setting up sidecars , riding and everything else.
Together with all the other files there you should find all the info you want.

Obviously, as has been said. If registering in the UK, the chair must be on the left of the bike and the usual MOT regs apply.

Scooters 'IE Lambretta's and Vespa's' have a very different fitting method of the chair chassis than conventional motorcycles. The fitting is much simpler too. But you will need a dedicated chassis for the Scooter. The rest as they say: Is simples :thumb2

However: If your friend has a Scooter/Chicken chaser (one of those things the Japanese, Chinese and Italians pump out by the millions) Forget the above and cross your fingers you can find something to attach the chair to. A pack of epoxy resin might be your friend here. :bow
