Hi there

I am the very happy owner of a incredible R1200GS.
The question is that I am 6,5-6,6 and when I got the bike (second hand), it had fitted the BMW low seat.
I would like to ask for advice because I do not if I can improve the position, ride more comfortable, or whatever with a higher seat.
Obviously I get more protection with this one but I do not if the position of my knees is good enought or if it can be better.

Cheers

Sounds to me like you need the higher seat option.

Why not pop to your local dealer, ask if you can sit on or go out on their demo bike with the stock seat set to highest just to confirm your suspicions ?

If the stock seat set to highest is still too low, its worth spending on the higher seat. You should have no problem selling the lowered seat on eBay, I bet there are plenty of 'vertically challenged' people interested in the R1200GS.

High seat, bar risers and maybe barbacks, ... last resort foot lowering kit...
oh and a higher screen (Ceebailey is the answer - custom sizes for all).

You should have no problem getting a swop on your seat from a vertically challenged rider.

I have a feeling that if the seat really is a bwm low one, you would loook like Mr. Bean.
Check the adjuster bars under the seat, are theyin the highest setting?

On my old 1200GS I went out and bought the extra high BMW seat straight away. I am 6' 3" tall and found that even the standard seat on the high setting still left my legs too cramped. With extra high seat on high setting - problem solved. :thumb

Mr Bean ;)

Yes. I have the feelling that I look a bit weird ;)
The adjuster bars of of my seat can not be moved. I can not change the height of the seat. That is the reason because I thing that the seat is the extra low. so yes, welcome Mr. Bean.
I am going to try a higher one and hopefully I ´ll Swap the Mr. Bean`s.

Thanks.

Oie,
Sounds like you have a low seat if it cannot be adjusted.
Maybe the dealer would let you check a std seat on the bike so you know for sure.
Shhepskin will give you a bit of a rise.
