Before its said i have searched but failed to find a similar failure or FD breakdown :nenau

Ive just been recovered from isle of mull 9 hours been driven with bike home due to the bank holiday no car or bike hire available. The problem was as follows.

Saturday started to get vibrations when pulling away this was followed by less clutch bite and vibes becoming banging/juddering from :nenau this got embarrassingly loud discovered more revs made it quieter. (not rider error as i have cover 10+K) so became worried,Ispected bike more throughly to ee oil coming from FD seal (by hollow bit) decide i could ride no more as it doesn't appear you can top the oil up (05 1200gs)

After the long drive home (passenger in recovery van) to put it away until the local BMW recover it and the judder/knocking had gone.

So WTF.......friend i was travailing with was betting i had a clutch/gearbox problem and a FD seal gone. any body shed some light on it whilst i sit hear missing out on the trip i had weighted all winter for :tears no replacement bike or car.

P.S i have extended warranty so its not the money its the disbelief that at 24K my clutch Fd and or gearbox is Knacked.

Sounds like a failing driveshaft joint to me judging by the symptoms you describe.

A failing coil can cause the vibrations you describe. (or are you sure the vibration was from the drivetrain?)

And perhaps the oil on the final drive was just a coincidence, weepage is quite common (especially after a prolonged run in hot weather), and not necessarily disasterous.

Good luck..........
