Welcome to the list PAul. I know alot of the guys use these all year round so I'm sure they are capable but expensive. I havn't found anything better than Belstaff for quality, price and design. They are even cheaper now as they have been bought out I believe.

Paul, I mentioned in other threads that my Rally 2 jacket isnt the warmest in the world, but i get by with my chilli heated waistcoat.

As others have said, if you want a good well made jacket for the summer then the Rallye II is the one to go for.
However, as an all round jacket.......no way, to dam cold!!!
IMHO if you like the styling then check out the Savanah jacket.
But be warned that it is also quite a cold coat, but it is better than the Rallye II in that respect. It also fits better coz of the elasticated waist belt.

The Rallye II is a bloody excellent jacket and you won't be dissapointed. Its probably one of the best pieces of kit I've owned in 15 years of motorcycling. It is in need of extra lining for the winter but I just wear a light fleece top underneath and its as warm as you need and I only wear one other layer underneath that (i.e. shirt/t-shirt... whatever). The build quality is superb and the armour is well fitted. I've slid along tarmac in mine and it's still serviceable... only developing a slight whole in the back panel about the size of a penny, all stitching intact and no damage to the removeable goretex inner so it's still waterproof. In searing hot sun you can still wear it due to the amount of well thought out vents and removeable liners. Top jacket, highly recommended... get one. Although it's expensive it should last for years and will prove its worth

I bought a Heine Gericke Toureg jacket and Trousers, and am very impressed with it.
I wore it in January on the coldest day and was very warm.
It feels comfortable, appears to be well made, I'm impressed with the features... but most of all... IT WAS HALF THE PRICE OF THE BMW RALLY II SUIT!!
Have a look at it at least. I know the Rally II looks cool and is on the famed DVD, but a few people have commented on this site about it being 'cooler' in the colder months...

From a safety perspective (IMHO) there really is no substitute for leather, so I wear leather whenever I can. For that reason I never bother looking for all-season kit.
For late autumn, winter and early spring I use a HG Voyager daylite without the liner, but backed up with a heated jacket.
For late spring, summer and early autumn I use an Alpinestar leather jacket.
I never wear textile trousers. I have two nice pairs of HG and Alpinestars leather trousers. In light rain or showers there is enough Renapur in the HG leathers to shrug off the water. In heavy rain I simply slip on a pair of waterproof trousers from my local outdoor pursuits shop.

I have the HG Tuareg Gortex Rally suit. I ride all through the year and can highly recommend the suit. It's warm enough for cold winter weather with the Gortex thermal liner in, and cool enough for very hot summer days with the liner removed. Only problem, as I said on a another recent thread, is that the suit is only waterproof with the liner in as the outer shell isn't waterproof and if it does get wet takes along time to dry out. I usually wear a lightweight waterproof suit over the top which works very well and in summer means you don't have to put the liner in when it rains. Because the outer shell isn't made of a waterproof material it allows alot more airflow during hot weather. I've always had a problem with other suits with waterproof outer shells being overly hot in the summer. In addition to the breathable material the suit also has vents in the arms and in the back. The suit has leather panels on the arse, knees, elbows and shoulders and is fitted with armour in the knees, shoulders, elbows and back. You can upgrade to a higher grade armour, although I haven't bothered.
