I'm after a pair of elkskin ropers (black) as a Christmas pressie so, is anyone going in the next few weeks? Placing an order on 't net, the shipping cost shows as $50 for a pair of $37 gloves :yikes

Ignore the shipping cost on the web page. Talk to them on the phone and get the real cost. They are really nice people to do business with.

Count me in.

Im up for a bit of that if theres any seats left. A pair in black would be bostin. PM if you want.:beerjug:

Changed me mind!

The black seems to bleed for a good while, so Im switching to tan Size lge (10.5) Anyone else up for it?

The price of the glove is US$37 (approx £21) but international postage will push the price up to around £25. UK Customs waive any customs charges on the personal import by post of any item (including postage) costing less than £18. Over that and you will be liable for import duty on the item and VAT on the item, the import duty and the postage.

Now, you might get away with it for one pair of gloves coming through the post, but you will almost certainly get hit if you are importing more than one pair.

I bought a pair direct...

earlier this year.
I was looking to spend about £80 - £90 in th UK so I figured that the quoted postage rate still made them reasonable.

Postage was charged at $10.00 - best gloves I've ever worn, total UK price £26.00.

I've just discovered how good the heated grips are on the GS. I rode all last winter in "winter" gloves which insulate the grips. I couldn't understand why people go on and on about heated grips, I do now. Ropers & heated grips are fine in most conditions.

These gloves are as good IMO as everyone says.

And to answer the original question, I'm not going over for the rest of this year but am in the process of planning a trip some time in February. I will (as usual) be happy to bring gloves back for people on that trip. I'll post here when the trip is confirmed.

***EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT***

Just called Aerostich direct (Using the works phone of course!) to get a better carriage price as recommended by Cheesy Mike. Asked them to send them by a cheaper method and they told me theyd send them to the UK with the Post Office for $11.00 USD. Total charge = $48.00 (£26.22) delivered. Bargain!

Give them a call on 001 800 222 1994 (I spoke to a very helpfull lady called Marvel)

Note: They have a scraper blade type thingy attached to one of the fingers now. Worth mentioning.

Good luck.:beerjug:

I phoned the order through before reading all the replies. I opted for the faster shipping at $20 so that's just over £31 all-in.

Thanks for all the responses, but I think Mike's right in that, HM C&E will definitely want a cut if there's a bulk order being posted to the UK.

Any good?

Hey Steptoe,

Is this strip/wipe removable? Or is it useful and worth keeping on?

It looks a tad naff.
