The 'search', being my friend, has told me that there's been lots of discussion on the use of Aerostich over business clothes but I'm interested in how people are actually getting on with this combo.

So, do you do this? How is it working for you? Any problems, creased tousers, damp crotch (sweat or ingress)?

Cheers,

Mike

Used to do it with no probs, but I did find the jacket creased so I put the jacket in a waterproof suit bag in a pannier and put a thin top on under Stitch/over shirt

Shoes similar.......in a decent box, in pannier, then hop around changing riding boots for smart shoes.

One tip....if you do that, take a piece of thick plastic or a rubber lined picnic mat or something.......sod's law says it'll be raining one day when you try and swap boots for shoes and having something dry to chuck on the floor helps :thumb2

PS I also used to put my tie in the suit carrier as well.....

I think the jacket gets creased because they areb't designed for prolonged use in the arns forwards riding position.

When i went to my next job I did a couple of years riding to engineering jobs wearing smart work clothes and never had a problem....it's just the levelof sharpness you want to maintain with a suit (jacket) is not quite there :thumb2

The aerostich roadcrafter is good for commuting - the new one is pretty well waterproof including the zips I gather. I wear it for Cardiff to London through the summer months. I carry a decent fleece as well as the suit is not particularly warm (you can get lined ones for winter).

I would put the jacket in the topbox for a long journey, but for under 30 mins the aerostich can go over any decent suit (wool tends to recover better).

Shoes then in panniers.

One definite advantage is the speed one can change - inevitably there will be a small crowd around you and the bike oooh and aaahing that you came by bike ("do take care on that thing" - "Oh, OK, just this once"). With an aerostich you can be suited and booted in about 30 seconds and then away before you get the "I couldn't be done with all that faffing" talk!

One other advantage of taking a plastic bag is to put over your boots before putting on the suit. Although the stich is as easy as any suit, a plastic bag does stop the boots catching the lining.

A lot of my customers work in the city and a lot of them wear a stich with their suits underneth.

I had to wear a suit under mine recently when i attended court as a witness. A short half hour ride into the city didn't crease it.

Use mine everyday over business threads, suit two or three times a week.

Ideal for the job. Just a bit hot this time of year even with vents open and if I were buying a stich again I would probably go for the light version.

Many thanks for the responses guys and the really useful ideas.

Now just the small problem of finding a spare £600+

Thanks again,

Mike

I've got a used one up the loft I've been meaning to list for sale for ages for about £250 (plus post). Can't remember the size on the label but I'm in the region of 5' 8 or 9", 40/41 chest, 34 waist and 30 ish inside leg and it fits me (albeit fairly snugly - not sure I'd get a suit under it) - it's pale grey with a tinge of green to it - looks better than it sounds. If it's of any interest I'll take some photies.

I've been contemplating a Stich for years now, but always put off by the reports of them not being waterproof, and if there's one thing that my riding gear has to be (aside from protective, obviously), it's waterproof.

Suggestion: the real advantage of the Stich is getting your legs in and out of the pants part quickly& easily whilst standing up. Many people don't realise you can buy just the Sticjh Roadcafter pants only rather than the full suit with the same 'step out' zip system.

The advantages are you can then wear any jacket you like with them, light jacket in summer heavy in winter . The trousers on their own can go in a top box/pannier much more easily than a full suit and you can walk off wearing the jacket if needs be when you stop anywhere.

Are there any serious alternatives that you can try on at shop or show ?
