Opinions please on these highly regarded suits. What is the fit like? Should you get a larger size? I have used the sizing chart on the Aerostich site and it seems as though there are a few sizes that will fit me. Thanks in advance :thumb

To make sure you get the right fit phone them up and talk to them. I almost ordered mine on line but then I called to make sure I was making the right choice... glad I did, I ended up getting one size bigger than I thought and it fits fine :thumb

I ordered one directly from the USA (I don't think they have a UK distributor). I called them, then placed the order. I didn't order a made to measure one.

When it arrived, I found :
1. It had been intercepted by HM Customs and I had to pay c.£45 duty :ymca
2. I found out that I had a long torso and short legs which resulted in my being unable to stand straight it it! It was either cutting me in half around the crotch  or I found myself stooping! Regrettably it had to be sent back.
3. Return postage was at my expense
4. I had to go through the rigmarole (spelling correct?) of getting a rebate on the duty I paid (proof of despatch etc.)
5. To cap it all, when they refunded my credit card, I got stiffed on the movement in exchange rates between dollars and Sterling. Not their fault I hasten to add.

Whole escapade ended up costing me about £70 with nowt to show for it!

On the plus side, the product did look good, though (from what I can recall), they don't guarantee that it's totally waterproof - check it out first.

Their service and friendliness was excellent.

I have had over 10 years great service from my Aerostich Roadcrafter 2 piece suit. Recent trip to Morocco showed it was great in both heat and cold, road and trail, and it remained waterproof through days of rain on the return trip across Spain and France. It also takes seconds to get on and off, and I can wear it over business clothes if necessary.

Would buy another...but perhaps consider a 1 piece as I have never (well hardly ever) worn only the jacket.

Not cheap but for me it was real value!

I got mine just before Christmas (The TITS auction with Commuter providing the suit :thumb ) and I'll agree with everything Paul said. Nearly ordered the size I thought I was, but used their on-line sizing service which suggested a size bigger. Ordered that one and it's absolutely spot on! Big enough to get an extra jumper on in this slightly cooler weather that we're having at the moment, but with enough adjustment to use with just a t-shirt. Top kit, and highly recommended!

Are they the sort of thing you could remove the lining & armour & wear them over a set of leathers if you so desired? I only seem to see you lot with them wearing them on there own.

Cheers

No, they're meant to be worn over normal street clothes. I dare say that if you got one big enough then you could wear it over leathers, but that's not the intention with them. There isn't a removeable lining in them for a start.

As I said before, I've only had mine a month or so but it's by far and away the best bit of bike clothing I've had in a dozen years of riding.

Well two weeks in after buying MMC's suit from him can only say it is a shame I never bothered to look at these suits years ago. It takes seconds to change into normal clothes or being ATGATT. This is for sure the best biker clothing I have ever spend money on. Worked out that time roughly wasted changing into bike and work gear every day for the last 5 years was a total of 12 days

Haven't tried it in the wet yet but either way I am not departing with this suit again :thumb All my other gear is now going on ebay for

I've had these suits for years now. I've toured in them, crashed in them, set them on fire (don't ask)!

Plus points:
Very, very well made
Great service
Will survive a 100+ crash with little damage
Waterproof as long as you treat them occaisionally (Nixwax wash-in)
Comfortble
Plenty of storage
Pleanty of vents to keep you cool

Negative points:
Neck is always cut too low for me
Legs can be very tight over Tech8's etc
Zipper rubbers fall off

I now worn mine in some pretty torrential rain and have found the suit totaly waterproof but, after prolonged periods in driving rain it did force it's way through the zippers.

If you take the time to make sure the fold of the material is correct and the velcro overflaps pressed down firmly then even the zipps won't leak in heavy down poors.

I've had mine just over a year now and wouldn't swap back to normal kit... in the South of France a couple of weeks ago I was standing in swimming trunks and a t-shirt 30 seconds after getting off the bike :thumb

Gee, 30 seconds to put on a t-shirt and swimming trunks.
