Can anyone advise - worth buying or not? I'm thinking of getting the one piece suit ordered from the States....

You will pay a small fortune in shipping, customs charges and VAT if you import by post. If you have the chance to go over there or have a friend going over then your best bet is to have it shipped to your hotel. Aerostich are happy to do this - they have done it many times for me. But place the order by phone and make sure you schedule the delivery for the right day - which may involve paying a bit extra for 2nd or next day air freight.

Why not plan a long weekend in New York or Boston - the flights are so cheap at the moment.

Where do you normally book flights from Mike? I looked a month or so back and they were around 400 quid...

I can't recommend the roadcrafter suit enough - since i bought mine ( second hand), i've worn it everytime i've been out on the bike -

Even my neighbour was impressed, he bought Novices roadcrafter suit off him 2 weeks ago, and he's worn his all the time since -

With a heated jacket on underneth, it's just perfect .

Seconded on the roadcrafter......top bit of kit.

Feels nice and safe, very very well made, lots of pockets in just the right places (inc. two hip flaps that go through to the inside so you can get stuff out of your jeans pockets too )

Wore mine out yesterday and today, total of about 250 miles in the cold, no worries....lovely and toasty with my BWM heated vest underneath.

Phil Reynolds has one too......and riding behind him today I found the suit looks good and has some nice reflective bits on, so hopefully it'll be nice and visible in the dark.

Forget the ten seconds getting it on thing....that's rubbish (even Mark Dilloway takes slightly longer than that and he's a slippery eel thing ;) ), but it does go on and off really easily and it's great being able to wear normal clothes underneath.

I'd imagine sizing is critical...mine's the tallest biggest version and it's spot on- not sure what size Phil or Steptoe have but come along to Eynsford again on thursday and try them on- I'd imagine mine might be the best size for you as you're quite a sturdy fellow like me..but it'd be an expensive mistake to make if you got it wrong.

Mine was secondhand too...practically perfect nick, was tipped off by Steptoe about it on the pipe & slippers site and picked it up for £350......and I'm very happy with it.

Afterthought....there's no back armour in mine.....haven't looked for a pocket in it yet but I do like a spine protector in my suits.....I must have a closer look later. (there is elbow, knee and shoulder armour though.....don't know if it's CE standard but it feels right)

Sounds good - will be along at the next Eynsford meet - so will have a look then. I've also sent off an e-mail to aerostitch with my measurements and asked what size they recommend...
