AF-XIED for 1150gs fitted and first tests.

You can try increasing the tps value.... but take thd reading before you start

Try increasing tps value but take a reading before so you can go back to the original setting if need be

Yeah, i have played around with it a few times at different settings according to roger it makes no difference on the 1150. I cant remember what it is set to at the moment.

Well I've done about 800 miles with a power commander 3 running 13.8 AFR and map set to 0 as per Rogers recommendations. Well if the AF-XIAD does the same thing all I can say is WOW! The 1150 has always been a grunty beast, but it now pulls top gear strongly from 2,000 rpm and is tractable at ever stage of the rev range. Pulls stronger at the top end too. Returning a solid 46-48mpg too, so I'm happy with that, I'd get a bit more on a long trip I'm sure (I have been a little heavy on the acceleration :green gri).

Since you've got a Wideband O2 sensor (which in my eyes is the primary benefit of the unique Dynojet PC III USB with Wideband O2, and why setting the map to all zeros makes sense), give 12.9:1 a try, just for fun, see what you think, let us know.

Also, you can probably disconnect the TPS connectors for the PC III and clean up the look. If you're adventurous, give that a try and see if it still runs. I think it will be fine.

I've tucked it all away now, so will leave the tps as it won't do it any harm.

Can't think you'd need any more than 13.8 tbh roger. gett really good ooomph, with no detriment to fuel economy, a true win win. I don't really want to mess with it because it's bloody brilliant! :D

Thanks for your help btw :thumb

Innovate LC-2, AF-XIED and the Wideband portion of the PC III USV with Wideband O2 all do the same thing in about the same way. For me, the LC-1 was a big WOW when I first integrated it in late 2011.

Now, over the next few tanks of fuel It should improve even more,

So how is it going so far, I would echo your initial findings. I'm finding the back wheel cutting loose now when applying the throttle liberally when banked over.

The pickup is much better kinda feels like the bike it should have been out of the factory.

We are trying to identify R1200 Harness Adapter Cables with code "120314" on them. This code is located on the cable label on the last line. We have found a few of these cables that were wired "upside down" at the Control Unit end. Total effected harness Adapters is less than 28 units. Not all harness are incorrect. The most likely effected units would have been sold between 05-Dec-2014 and 01-Jun-2015

A visual check of wire colors should match between the Control Unit into the Harness Adapter.
Incorrect wiring is Yellow, Red, Black on the Keyed (double notch) side of the white connector.
Symptoms would be the AFXIED control unit showing only the yellow/green LED on solid after the units startup sequence and the engine running.

Any Rider with these cables can get a free exchange.

Effected bikes may be anything But R1150 and R1100. This includes R1200, F800, K-series, Husqvarna.

This can be published to the Forum(s).

Hi Roger

It's Lee from Advrider. Been very happy with my AFxied for the past year. Nonetheless I wonder if mine has crapped on me in the past few weeks after a low battery. The leds (red green and gold) work fine. The bike can work for a half day trip, then on the return, I could lose my idle and engine would die if I stop. Then at steady throttle, it would be surging like crazy, definitely sounding like a lean mixture. Then as soon as I slightly twist the throttle, the bike suddenly accelerates. It litterally jumps ahead ;-)... Not smoothly at all. At the end, I had a slightly lower fuel consumption (running lean then). But I don't think it is a fuel pump problem as the bike as all the fuel it needs as soon as I give it a bit of load. I checked fuel pressure with a guage hooked up while running the bike around and under load. I get my steady 45/48psi. Pump checked out good... Then changed the TPS thinking perhaps after 200,000km some tracks were getting worn out. Reset to 340mv/250mv. Reset the DME. Worked fine for half an hour then the engine surged again. Injectors are one year old. So is the O2 sensor. I removed the AFXied. Reset the DME. And since then the engine runs like a charm. It looks like the AFxied module leans out the mixture. I'll send it to Nightrider for a test. What's your take?

Lee

Sorry, just seen this. I removed the AF-XIED and sold it on. The time in which I had it fitted did make a difference. Not massive, if Im honest in reflection, but I feel it could be beneficial to bikes which suffer from surging or minor fuelling issues

Did you not feel it was good value then?

The above is now on my R1150R, brought from here, it made all the difference to my bikes surging. It made the difference of keeping it or selling it on....
Just back from a 9 day, 2,400 mile jaunt to the med and back, it didn't surge once, at any speed, in the Alps, or in 39 degree heat, it ran just like my old twin spark.
On my bike the best money I've spent, period!

This is where I think it excels; in curing the surging. My bike never suffered badly from it, but the AF-XIED did iron out what little there was, thats for sure. My 1150gs has been retired from everyday duties (hence the sale) as I needed the cash for my RT :(. Would I buy another if the 1150 was put back into daily work? Yes. :thumb2
For me I really like the fact that its easy to instal and remove as opposed to replacing chips in the ECU.

Oh, and the 1150 is still way more involving and fun than the 1200RT, but then you all already know this :thumb

Did you not feel it was good value then?

Yes, I think it is good value and has been very well developed.
I have tried a few different things for my 1150 over the years; booster plug, TFI, cat code plug changes - all in search of that perfect performance. The AF made the most notable improvement, but I think I was lucky that my gs never had some of the fuelling issus that others experianced.

I think I sort of know what you mean, it makes the engine feel better, smoother even but it's subtle it feels like its doing good things.

It just doesn't have the "wow" factor. (If you don't have the surging problem).

I'm currently running John's chip and the xied and its working well so far.
