AF-XIED for a standard bike?

Just ordered a pair for mine :) @Mattw was it just VAT that you got hit for or are there other charges? Just wondering what to expect....

Thanks

You get done for import duty vat and a charge for the post office to apply the charge. Robbing bastardos

You may be lucky not everyone is stopped. If you had a friend in the USA get it sent to them then get them to send it to you as a gift

I also got 20% uniform discount. He gives it as a matter of course and never actually asked to see my Id

Works out a bit more expensive than a re map, especially if you get hit for the import duty.
But there's a couple of other things to factor in.
Fine, if you live within a reasonable travelling distance from Hilltop, but for me, it would have involved a ferry journey as well. Just getting a bit pricey, never mind the cost of your time getting there, getting it done and the time back. For me, it would have been an overnighter, at least.
If you ever decide to change to something else, then it has a good re-sale value. No one knows what that is, as I've never seen one for sale second hand. Must be a good indicator!
I know of at least one tosser near Dublin who would have yer arm off for one at the right price!
That's after he has paid for that new FD and ignition key antenna. :tears

Yep - as above, you get hit for duty and the post office handling charge - came to £36 or so for me (it'll vary with the prevailing exchange rate).

I tend to be in the States fairly often and reckon i will be over again next month, so if anyone wants a set orders i can get them sent to our work in Houston and then pick them up if needed.

So far mine are working a tread done about 400miles so far with them both on 8 blinks and so far so good. Like many have said i think you need around three tanks of fuel to allow the ECU to fully adjust.

Cool cheers all, less than I thought to be fair will see when I get the notification then ;)

It was less than I thought it would be to be honest - about 10% of the total cost including postage - thought it would be 20% (but I'm not complaining...)

Add a new after market bash plate to the list.
Mounting bolts sheared and snapped on its last oil change.......... figured a new plate would be cheaper than drilling and helicoils.
Found a lovely one that mounts on the frame at the centre stand and uses a bracket at the front!

(ACDRacing, check them out)

And the hits just keep on comin'........

Wouldn't bother doing the lottery for a week or two, Keith.
Probably be as well staying indoors if there's any thunder and lightning about, as well.

I live less than an hour away from hilltop.
AF-XIED`s are now on my second bike, are adjustable and I understand the technology, also have a resale value if I ever moved to another bike manufacturer
( doubtful).
so without factoring in the time and distance there is no comparison, AF-XIED`s all the way..

I have been testing other bikes over the last week including the latest GS, GSA and Ducati MS Enduro. Of the 3 the Duke would get my vote....ballistic, more comfortable and better build.

However, the TC is so good with Wilbers ESA and the AF units that as an an all round package it is hard to beat....and certainly not worth the £10k cost to change. The AF units really have transformed the bike into a smooth, tractable and punchy machine.

Clearly no where near as fast as the MS...little is...but for the 99% of the time you are not travelling at 100mph plus....the TC offers all the punch you need.

Love it.

Hi mate,
I've asked to wait for the updated versions to come in stock (just in case and also I'm on holiday at the end of next week so didnt want them sitting in customs for 2 weeks and risk getting returned to sender) if it ties in with your timings I may take you up on that if thats ok?
Cheers
