AF-XIED for a standard bike?

I went to Portugal just after I fitted the AF-XIED and it was still getting better when I got back.....I'm the same as Comberjohn, a long way to travel to get a Hilltop, and there is a resale value.

Ok I've ordered some, a mate is over from the States next week with local shipping to him 312 quid

Welcome to the (very small) club!
Sounds like you've set them ok with 7 blinks. I've mine at 8, but it's hard to tell much difference between 7 or 8 in practical terms.
No worries about waterproofing. I've mine stuck on the side of the air box with double sided tape. Seem to remember seeing a pic of one in a glass of water to demonstrate how waterproof they are.
My insurance company wasn't bothered either. Sent them a link about what they did from Beemer Boneyard, but no worries.
The changes are very subtle and gradual but you'll notice changes fairly quickly. The makers reckon up to a thousand miles for full adaption.
You will shortly have the bike you thought you were buying in the first place!

Knew I had seen this pic somewhere. They kept it in water for 32 hours and it still worked ok. They don't make any claims that they're waterproof but obviously ok for purpose.

why is no one importing these.
i would get one for my 2005gs if i could get one here...

What makes you uncomfortable with buying direct from the US?

I've ordered mine... it was really easy... not arrived yet to be fair but I don't anticipate any issues given how many other things I've had shipped over.

As I started this thread, I should post some thoughts now I've had my units fitted for a few weeks.
I've only done 400 miles or so but the bike is feeling better with every ride. As others have said - no dramatic step change but a gradual improvement each time I use it.

The fattening of the midrange torque is now very noticeable and it pulls like a train from 4K or so. For the first time ever, the front wheel picked up off the throttle while accelerating hard in second going over a very slight rise :)

In short, I wish I'd got them a couple of years ago and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Thanks everyone for the advice :thumb2

Glad to hear everyone is so pleased with their AF XiED units.
Maybe this will encourage Nightrider to appoint a distributor here. They seem to very popular in the States where they're used on other models like the 800 twin as well as the K1200/1300/1600 engines. Many of which need only one unit, so much cheaper to buy.
What I still don't understand is, why are they still queuing up to get a re map at hilltop?
Yes, it works well, but what's the advantage? You can lie to your insurance company, but mine wasn't bothered about my AF XiED units anyway.
Is it any more powerful? No one can say for sure but only person who has had both, says he can't tell the difference. If pushed, he favours the AF XiED units.
Of course, you can't bum about your bike being on the dyno and getting that vital power graph, showing before and after.

Suppose it worries me if something goes wrong with item being lost in transit or receiving a faulty unit
If UK based then issues easier to sort
Probably will order from them but it's a lot of money too lose if something goes wrong

Delivery from States within three days but still waiting for customers aasarrrerghhhh

Unfortunately that's exactly what happened to mine - sat in Coventry for two weeks waiting for the Royal Mail to pull their fingers out if their collective arses.

Wish I'd thought about this while I was in the states last summer :doh

That's what I did. Dropped the missus and kids off at Busch Gardens in Florida then went off to nightrider to pick up my units.
