AF-XIED for a standard bike?

Yes, understood... I paid the option for insurance but if there is a DOA I'd have a small amount of hassle returning it. I suspect there are very few faulty units that get through though so I think it's a small risk.
Suppose it worries me if something goes wrong with item being lost in transit or receiving a faulty unit
If UK based then issues easier to sort
Probably will order from them but it's a lot of money too lose if something goes wrong

Looking at posts on advrider.com about the units, where they've been available for a lot longer, I don't remember ever seeing anyone having a problem.

Now with postie so hopefully things will progress - god knows how long this will take

They arrived this morning and fitting whilst watching gp qualifying so about 30 minutes - both yellow lights flashing 6 times so suppose it leave it like that and just ride it - do I turn to 7 after it's had time to work or straight away

Having logged endless data on settings 6,7 and 8 I would start with setting 7 for 1K miles.
The bike feels slightly stronger on 8 but I find 7 a nice compromise between engine feel and fuel consumption.
Setting 7 on my 2012 TC is afr 13.8 to 1 setting 8 is afr 13.4 to 1

Set off at 7 and just done a 60 mile bimble around the Meon Valley - me and the mrs both noticed lack of "hunting" and overall smoothness. 4K rpm still a little vibey but I think even that felt better - might be imagination. If first impressions anything to go by I am suitably impressed and feel it's going to get better

Mines smooth low down better torque, but what used to be silky in third (50-85mph) is now very vibbey, that's after 700 miles

Hi Uni, There shouldn't be any added vibration at higher RPMs from a slightly richer mixture. I'd continue to ride and see if it clears after a few more tanks of fuel. You could also reset the adaptive values if you or a friend has a GS-911.

If the vibrations continue it would be great to collect some realtime data with the GS-911 and see if anything is going on with your O2 sensors or adaptive values. Keep us posted.

The adaptations were reset 400 miles before i fitted them, 1000 miles now no further change in behavior, its ok I'm using a higher gear most of the time, but on a thrash around the lanes it feels like I'm further up the rev range

400 miles in to fitting the units on setting 7 and each ride is getting better and better. The cursed vibe at 70mph 4K revs ish has almost gone and riding at all revs is vastly improved.

After owning 2 gs's an 08 gsa and a 10 gs I was never a big fan of the motor, I loved the bike and what it did but would have preferred a big triple in it to be honest.

This week has really changed that. The bike now seems to be running how it should, nice smooth power and really strong roll on. Snatchy throttle has gone and the bike feels so much more relaxed

I cannot recommend these enough. Certainly a much more positive effect on the bike that the decat/new pipe route which I did on my previous gsa

Wellcome to the gang. Had mine now for over 6 months and still marvel at the difference it has made to the bike and my enjoyment of it.....also saved me a fortune as I just do not see the point of trading in for a newer model.

Although older than yours, my 2004 RT performs strongly with more fuel (I'm at the equivalent of setting 8-9). I need a second bike for another location and I'm thinking of getting a cousin's 2001 GS and adding fuel to it.

Sounds like a plan...I wish I had this kit available when I had my 1150...and like most, regret ever selling it.

After reading about the AF-XIED here in the forum, I bought a set for my 05 GS from Beemerboneyard during my last vacation in the US. Saved me a small fortune in shipping and vat ;-). I installed it just before start of riding season here in Norway. Now, after 4 tanks of fuel, I'm very happy with the bike. It's pulling strongly from low rev's and the backfire and popping that I had before is almost gone (have full aftermarket exhaust with no cat). I also installed the Rocket Sprockets on the camshafts some years ago. They also improve low end grunt.

Do rocket sprockets work similar to a bigger sprocket on a chain bike
