An unfortunate Tosser at the end of the day :comfort (i believe this is the same one that was dropped earlier in the day) sorry couldnt resist and hope you had a successful trip home.

Great day, great support, good amount raised for a charity close to my heart and thanks to "mum" for moving mothers day to saturday to allow me to do my bit.

Just had a e-mail to say that they are going to do it again next year, I will be there.

Response from the Mayor to a letter sent from a friend of mine:

Thanks for the email - and apologies for taking a few days to come back to you. I have been inundated with messages, similar to yours, from bikers saying how incredible the day was.
I have spoken to dozens of Wootton Bassett residents during the week and they were all thrilled with the ride out, often saying how refreshing it was to stand on the High Street clapping and cheering.
You, the Bikers, were fantastic, and we owe you a huge thank you for the way you paid your tribute.
From speaking to a number of Bikers as they came through, I know that some had been waiting at Hullavington for up to 5 hours. I hope that for you, and for all of the Bikers, the long wait was worthwhile.
As for not lifting your visor, I must apologise for the dusty nature of our High Street - many people that day seemed to have dust in their eyes.

All the best, and thank you again.
Cllr Steve Bucknell
Mayor of Wootton Bassett

Hi guys,(blueflame)
Yes this is the one that was dropped earlier with wifey on the back as well!!! how embarrasing that was but I wasn't the only one!:augie But there is a very good/bad reason for this:confused: My 11 month old ADVENTURE bike's altenator decided to pack in on the way down to wootten so had some serious running problems so had to be recovered AKA the flat back. Anyway to all of those involved in the very successful day WELL BLOODY DONE:thumb2

I take it then Snowey that you aren't going on the ride out...

I sincerely hope that this one goes off without incident and raises a shed load of cash for a very worth while cause.

Actually Snowy Afghan Heroes is the only charity benefiting from the ride

Indeed they did

A charity set up to help former armed forces personnel who have served in Afghanistan is being wound down.

The Charity Commission began an inquiry into possible financial misconduct at Somerset-based Afghan Heroes.

Bank accounts frozen

The Charity Commission started an investigation on 22 November and took legal action to stop the charity's bank accounts being used and any of its property being disposed of.

During the financial year ending on 31 December 2012, the charity received £548,440 in income and spent £516,288.

It spent £474,924 on generating funds in 2012 and £15,153 on charitable activities. A further £26,211 was spent on governance costs.

During that period it employed eight full-time and 16 part-time members of staff at a cost of £190,479.

Former Defence Secretary Liam Fox, who was a patron of the charity, resigned from his position in December when he discovered it was under investigation.

Nobody from Afghan Heroes was available for comment.
