Africa Twin is coming

Sat on one at the bike show today. Apart from the fact that I would need higher seat seemed like a good bike and if I was looking to change my 1150GS would definitely consider one. Honda rep I was talking to did admit they had been out with a couple of them, a NC750X and a 500X; and they all agreed the best all terrain bike was......

the 500. :D

Don't knock it! Those 500 are excellent real world travel bikes. The last thing you need off road is high bhp.

I'm not knocking it at all - I tend to agree with him completely (especially since I also own a CB500X; great little bike and makes me wonder why I would need more power or weight :D)

How very dare you!!! EVERYONE knows that unless it has 120bhp+ it'll be useless *Touring - *Two up - *Long motorway trips - *Dick waving with all my mates who have more powerful bikes. How anyone ever managed to go anywhere with less is anyone's guess!! :blast

I have a DCt NC. I spoke to RR about a suspension mod and wire wheel conversion but it doesn't fit the nc unfortunately.

Just spoken to Dobles and my bike is coming with the additional clocks so happy with that and they have stuck to the trade in price for my Versys 1000 even though its done 450 miles more than when I ordered the AT so all in all Quite a happy person
Delivery looks to be End of Jan to the first week of Feb
Happy Days

Full report in MCN is very complimentary and well worth a read IMHO. They call it "a breath of fresh air: a real adventure bike not a glorified tourer".

They may be right but most riders are not looking for the best bike to drift around dusty corners on a dirt roads in South Africa....most riders want the perfect compromise. A comfortable mile muncher that is fun to ride and has the right toys etc etc. In the real world (our real world) I personally think it will be more of a compromise than others already on the market....doesn't mean I wouldn't have one if the Mrs would let me have a 10 bike garage tho!!

All reviews rave about the auto gear box :

" IF you’d told me yesterday that I’d fall in love with an automatic transmission system on an off-road adventure bike I’d have laughed at you".

That is one option I would like :blast

Flippin eck, it's a beautiful looking bike, perhaps I'm out of touch with how much new bikes cost to kit out .... but those prices!

anyone know what the upper and lower deflectors and Pillion step is ??
lso am I to believe the bike don't come with pillion foot pegs ? they seem to be an option on the sheet !!

The upper deflectors are those wee bits of plastic. Lower ones....no idea.
The pillion step may be an alternative footrest with rubber inserts.

Wow they are this weeks must have LOL what the Fcuk are they and what do they do for £105.00:eek:

So what colours have you boys gone for ?

I've not seen one in the flesh but I think the red colour is nicer than the white tri.

The price isn't as low as I had expected but over here with no VAT the DCT bike with full Touring Pack should be about £11400.

I went for the Red but when I saw it in the flesh I prefer the wheels on the Tri colour like the gold wheels

If anyone with a tri colour wants black wheels id swop !! :thumb

I'm sure I saw a pic of an AT wearing the full Termi system but can't find it on this thread in last 10 pages or so.

Anybody ?

I have the DCT on my 1200 Crosstourer and it's bloody ace. As previously mentioned earlier in this thread I let two guys who have both ordered manual ATs ride my bike a month ago and they both loved the DCT and were considering changing their orders :thumb
