Africa Twin is coming

Does that bike ever leave the garage Davy? :D

Don't be silly....there's salt and horribleness out there.......:augie

Truth be told, I can't take her out as I'm waiting on Belfast Honda getting me a new pair of tyres in my preferred brand and they've done a nice deal to change the Dunlops that it came fitted with at the right price to swop.

There.....Nutty and Miles can commence their vitriol.........:blagblah

That's about 600 miles of comuting using a mix of back lanes and motorways - more motorways of late as the farmers are rushing towards their hedge cutting deadline and By the amount of branches and rough cuts on the lanes I'd swear this year they're using exsplosives - it's fecking comical out there

Well come on ..... !!

What did you think ... ??

I nearly didn't post up the picture 'cos I sooooo wanted to like the bike and didn't want to diss it, but, since you asked, here's what I posted on FB;

So..........quick thoughts. I'm not gonna compare to the 1190R 'cos they are two vey different bikes but I'll defo ref the KTM as a bench mark;
The little Honda is just that, little. Everything is crammed in very cleverly so when sat on it it's low (narrow seat too) and hides it's weight very well indeed. The seat was at first on it's low setting but even raised to high I was sat in the bike with too much knee bend. I much prefer being sat 'on' the bike (like the KTM).
Engine and fuelling are a peach. Great in town traffic. Power dead linear all the way to the red line = boring. No kick up the arse at any stage..............
Brakes have a loverly initial bite (better than the 1190 in that respect) but nowhere near the modulation and ultimate power of the KTM - still plenty powerful enough.
Ride - very comfy, just floats, almost in a GS sort of way. Felt very remote though, not engaging at all. Press on, play silly buggers and the suspension & handling are pretty mediocre. Slow turn in, imprecise and the opposite of 'being on rails'; I hated it. I wacked up the preload to nearly full and that improved turn in but still not good.
Finish - ok but nothing exceptional. Furring and start of corrosion on banjos and some fasteners; two winters on the KTM and the only evident corrosion is light surface rust on the disc bobbins which polishes out.
I then rode the same route I took on the TA on Katie and I was back in a good place; it went where I thought in comparison. It's stuck to it's lines but moved off them when I wanted it to. I could feel exactly what both wheels were doing. It felt like a Supermoto in comparison. And then I took it over 6k :D :D :D
