Africa Twin is HERE !!!

Wow, what bought that on? Extraordinary ! ( Stolzy and I have a wry "pop" at each other, but nothing like this!)

Wooooooooooosh!

Are you for real

A wry pop??? Whilst I won't speak on behalf of Stolzy I suspected his impression of you means that any respect he may have for you and his comments made towards you are anything but wry........

Wreford's post was cleverly written, in good humour yet still made a valid point in his opinion.

Is it 'cos there was no picture that you struggled with his post?

My opinion is that we are all bikers and no matter what Steed we chose we are all bikers that will have a bit of banter with each other with "mines the fastest colour" etc this is better than that bla bla bla that's all good, my grief is that to make an educated assumption you've got to at least try the thing, then if you come back and say you know what that in my opinion is shit, ill take that as it wasn't for you, Christ back in 2000 when I bought my first 1150GS my mates thought I needed medical attention, going from a Brand new 1Ltr sports bike to that agricultural tractor like machine, after a couple had ridden it they saw the attraction, others still thought I had been through a lobotomy, but hey ho, most of them now ride adventure style bikes now, all ill say is never say never and have an open mind, give it a try you never know you may like it !!:bounce1

I know this is "AT is here thread"; .....But wow ....Super Duke GT ...205Kg dry, 173 bhp & 106 lb/ft
KTM claim its "top of the food chain" Looks like they have a point......

Semi-active WP suspension
Lean angle sensitive ABS and traction control
Cruise control
Ride modes
Heated seats(2)
Quick shifter
Absolutely stunning ( perhaps, apart from the panniers)

(I notice they placed cruise control on the RHS where it should be adjacent to the throttle) not like the Bmw which is easily confused with the dip/main beam switch)
If this had been available last year, there is no way on earth I'd have purchased the GS....

.....

It was very tongue in cheek, ribbing Arsey for praising his new squeeze (AT) when his reliable loyal and very capable partner (KTM Super Enduro) is not mentioned

Why the fuck would I be talking about the SuperEnduro in a thread about the Africa Twin in the Honda section !!!
I have talked about the AT and SE previously, when I have said that I see the AT as a natural successor to the SE,and that's the way it's playing out.even at this early stage.
Anyway,I'm done with talking about the Africa Twin.

while there is a lot of sense in that, i can still look at a bike and see something like tubed tyres and decide that is not a good idea for me. i don't need to ride it to judge everything.

Appreciated but then if that's your hang up and don't like tubed wheels, your out, but you havnt then sat and tried to sway everyone else,s opinion with the lack of power, shit seat, its inability to tour etc etc you've stated your case, wished everyone who has bought one Luck and moved on, you havnt banged on and on and on without trying one that's all im saying,:thumb

no, i don't get the swaying opinion thing when it comes to bikes, or much else really. why would i care what bike someone else buys? :)

Looks particularly flimsy though

Style over substance

I recently bought a new plastic chainguard for the DR 350 - the short Enduro one & Suzuki have thoughtfully reinforced the mounting area with alloy plate bonded & rivetted to the plastic - bikes were made by engineers 20 years ago & not cappacino fuelled designers like they are today ;)

No doubt more AT shockers will come to the fore when real owners start using them

Can you fit a high mudguard to the lower fork brace, are there 4 holes ?

Looks like you should be able to although disappointing that the "Ultimate Adventure Bike" should need this:

...............now we have several months of him talking about his journey towards owning a KTM GT instead :eek

I'd better get in quick and tell him now that the KTM GT ain't no GS slayer either ;)

It also used to be a popular mods for one of the previous contenders for "Ultimate Adventure Bike". The KTM 950/990 Adv. :thumb

Like Andrés said ..... Knobblies , mud and a low mudguard don't mix. Loads of GSers used to fit the TT (I think ) front mudguard with a greater clearance if they were using knobblies off road.

;)

I hear that Eng has ordered one of these !!

I hear that the chap from the IAM was wearing one of those T shirts when this happened :D

Last Sat I was out in the Lake District UK for a ride out with 17 other IAM bikers very cold sleet and snow we stopped for a brew. We got back onto our bikes and set off and like you doing approx 5mph I stopped to get into formation sat behind a Triumph Explorer, we started to go and with the slightest of pressure on the throttle the DCT shot forward from between my legs leaving me there standing like John Wayne and the bike crashes into the back of the Triumph taking out the rider and Bike!
