Africa Twin Luggage

Recently purchased AT specific pannier frames from Holan for my Nomada Pro panniers, also had rear rack plate thingy and crash bars. Everything fitted as it should great value for money and excellent service. Have a look at Holan.pl. They used to manufacture for Touratech and seem to know what they are doing. As I dislike pannier frames being permanently fitted I store mine off the bike. It is a simple case of removing five bolts.

I had Holans for my 1190. Good quality system, tho' dealing with them can be frustrating as they don't communicate very well with customers. I could have held onto the panniers instead of selling them, but Holan never got back to me about any developments on rails for the AT. They then released them within a couple of weeks of the bike being launched. Oh well, I'll suffer the oe Honda ones as they're all I really need and rackless to boot. I mean, taking five bolts on and off would be soooo annoying. :D

Not before my time, I've just never followed the Africa Twin. I wasn't criticising the brown engine, but it does stand out on the black bike more. It's one of those things that once you've seen it once, your eye is constantly drawn to it!

+1. I didn't notice it on the red or tri-colour bikes but it seems to stand out more on the black bike.

I like it when manufactures include stuff like that. Shows they care/are proud of their heritage and gives youngsters/morons like me a chance to learn

Got out on mine this afternoon for an hour, DCT didn't kill me, switches didn't stick, heated grips worked ok (level 3 this afternoon)

I am really impressed with this bike, it's simple some ways but just seems to work, for example the std screen isn't adjustable but my head seems to be in reasonably still air up to about 90mph (thats my limit so far).

Finally got my tripmaster and book from the dealers and after a complaint to Honda via there online did you get a good service email I got matching numbers which I was quite impressed with, anyway got the Tripmaster thing fitted this morning and wish I hadn't what a piece of shit, shows the speed in KMs, really wasn't worth the wait should have just put it in the box with the exhaust and other bits ive got from the bike and gave it to the next owner, takes up space and does fcuk all that will help me on my ride !!

Love the bike hate that stupid thing !!
anyway whilst I was looking at the bike I took on board the lovely comments about the £650 worth of Termi can I bought and removed it and cut 2" out of the link pipe which shortened the look of the can and lessened the gap between the can and heat shield, looks better now, also fitted a adjustable lip from my Versys screen

all I did was cut an inch of each end of the link pipe and do a little bit of re shaping, it does look better in picture 2 that's for sure you can see how much its gone back by the position of the hanger !!

Ha ha.Pleased I sold my Tripmaster and book !!!

Have just ordered the Arrow headers which are now in stock at Rugged Roads.

Anyone heard any complaints about AT being cramped?
We supposedly have a DTC and a manual coming in over the next couple of days with around 500 miles with both owners giving that as reason for selling. Puzzled!!

....... from the darkside this was sent

Yeah I did, mentioned it in my test ride report HERE

I'm 6ft and found myself sat too much 'in' the bike and my knees bent too much. Reckon I'd have to do what Arsey did and fit the 'high' seat; it'd have to be a good 2 to 3 inches higher to work for me though.

IIRC didn't the guy selling his on here cite that as the reson for selling?

Andres

5'11" (31" inseam) and no problems at all. Compared to my previous 12GS, more comfy and equal to my departed 1190. I think it's going to be a better distance bike to the 1190 as I don't seem to get the same tiring buffeting on the AT.

Yeah, I'd agree with that :thumb2

After a long Autoroute haul on the 1190 I arrive at my destination a bit like the guy on the Kwack in the original Gumball Rally film, all wild, crazy and google eyed - mind you the biggest smile ever is there on me mush for all to see :jibberbig

Looking forward to seeing those......:thumb2

I'm thinking of selling my Tripmaster too...only place for it now is at the handlebar clamps and not sure I want it there.

Because ive fitted mine ill leave it on but if id have known exactly what it did id have just left it in the box for who ever buys it !!
my Termi headers are delayed surprise surprise !!
