Rugged Roads have some nicely made bars that go across the frame where the pegs were which fills the threads and prevents them from filling with crud and allows you to attach bungees, tie downs etc.

Yes....the TC cuts in real quick now (on max), wheelies like mad when (TC) off, sounds great.

The grunty,engaging engine is a joy to use,the roomy riding position is comfortable over any distance and the tall,slender chassis delivers brilliantly flickable handling-on dry roads anyway.
Overall, there's no question about whether the Africa Twin is a good road bike,because it's a great one that is true to the spirit of the orginal.While it is a true dual sport bike,it's brilliant to ride on the road-and at £10499 it asks some hard questions of the arguably more road-focused but heavier and more expensive adventure bike, as it's right up there with the best of them.
The only real moan is that the OE tyres aren't great in the wet,but I think I'll be changing mine for Conti TA2s anyway after my next trip.

Ok I'll bite - he only rode it to the shops, should have ridden it two up to the south of France then commented - a week before MCN had said that it was barely adequate loaded two up and did some real measurements to back up their claim.
Same publisher, probably got told of by Honda so they decided to write something nice about the pogo moped.

I've said it before and i'll say it again; It's a GS rival alright but it's closer a rival to the 800GS than the LC .
One look at the spec sheet and price tells you that. It's also also a very good alternative to the LC , many who buy the bigger ADV bikes over bike themselves and would do well to look at something like the AT instead.
It is not too compromised or useless at touring as Engineer likes to suggest . People happily tour on bikes like the XTZ660 Tenere with no problems whatsoever. Myself and plenty of others have happily toured 2 up on the lowly 1150GS with less power than the AT.
The AT is a cracking bike and we are lucky to be in an era where there is more choice than ever before of types , sizes and styles of bikes. There aren't many bad bikes out there at all, the hardest part is choosing which one , or two or even more if you are lucky enough, to buy

Ive had more fun in a Suzuki Swift sport at 137BHP than I did in a Subaru impreza STI with 400BHP its not all about paper figures, Ive got a C63 AMG now with close on 500BHP and im using a Nissan Juke Nismo RS as the daily driver as its just so much more fun to drive, its not all about that its how it feels, the AT is simply for me better than any GS ive owned, (14 in total) it feels lighter, better screwed together and its fun, granted if I wanted to load it up with shit that ill never use and put a 15 stone plumper on the back id expect the performance to be hampered a fair bit, (don't tell me a GS wouldn't because ive owned both and know different) but how many times per year will I be put in that position ?? if I want to jump on it and go to work or so out on Sunday for 300 miles (and Know it will make it back) its the bike for me,
it might not be as good tourer fully loaded as a Goldwing but then again neither is the GS !!
I ride with 2 LC GSs and neither of them can get away from me loaded or not, normally its me pushing them along! a decent rider can allways make up the difference of a bit less power and if you cant ride a bike to its potential don't buy it

Not at all.He was mildly annoying until I stuck him on the ignore list months ago.Buys a GS after following the herd and then attaches the blinkers.It's what makes Brits abroad get a reputation-stays in Formulé Ones for €39 a night and think it's the height of luxury,eats steak and frites,pronounced fritz,every night and go from A to B on autoroutes,missing out on all the views.GS owners are the greatest !
I get the impression that some AT riders protest a bit too much
The 2 friends I know who have bought AT's - one is about to get rid for a Trumpet and the other is less than impressed with the rusty spokes and even worse the rust appearing on the frame/head stock. So much for legendary Honda build quality
......but as always enjoy riding whatever bike you have
