SWMBO's sister has got an Africa Twin 750. I rode it back from london and it seems to be restricted. It wont rev over 5,000 revs, would only pull 70mph at best. I know they do a 33bhp restrictor kit for these and am hoping this is all it is. Does anyone know what and where to look for to see if this is fitted??

If it doesnt rev over 5000 rpm then there is a problem with the CDI or something...
It should have a top speed of 110-120 mph at about 8000 rpm.
If you have the frame and engine numbers you can check if it is a restricted model.
Also, if the top speed on the dials is 110 mph then it is probably restricted.
The restriction is a narrower intake form the carbs to the cylinders.
You can get the non-restricted parts to replace, for about 100-130 quid.

Take a look here for a brief explanation on the 'power reduced' models.

Check your engine and frame number against these to see if it as OE Honda restricted model - or if it's an aftermarket one

Type II - Restricted Power Output Models.

There's a lot of other things you can check - but let's see if it's a full power model or not before going down that road :augie

Right whipped the carbs off, the inlet rubbers appear to be reduced from full width (about 40iish mm) to a small 25ish mm, is this normal or restricted?

Just checked, Vin number has it as restricted, Its a German Model RDO4E 1997. Does this mean the cams are changed?

Ok I cut out the restricted rubber, didnt make a blind bit of difference, would jetting need to be changed?

According to my Friendly Honda dealer, its likely a 5obhp model, anyone got a spare set of standard Cams I can borrow?:augie:augie
