I have just fitted a Adv tank on a std GS and have 2 questions:-

1. What are the tyre pressures on the Adventure are they different to the std in light of the heavier fuel load?

2. Does the setting of the front suspension need to change?

Roger

Yes, but you will need to reduce tyre pressure and preload as you use the fuel up, bit tricky on the move though:rolleyes:

Just set it as before, Roger. The difference will not be noticeable and I only put more petrol in than before if I'm going to use it straight away, otherwise I just put in about £15 worth.

I got some 3 spoke alloys which I've been cleaning up, ready for fitting tyres onto. Hopefully, they'll be ready for Princetown. It should make the bike a bit more interesting still, don't you think.

Thanks guys, It just felt a bit strange at first but even with the tank full this morning I barely noticed it.

I had a fun time with it on first fitting the thing. I put in the fuel I had drained out (about 7 ltrs) and everything was fine so I popped around to ASDA to fill up and try it, it was filling nicely when hust as the tank appeared full the gates opened and fuel went absolutly everywhere pissing out of the right side of the tank. So I pushed it over to the side of the forecourt, got the allen key from the tool kit and whipped the tank off (thank christ for quick disconnects) and hurl it onto the grass bank to find fuel gushing from the top of the sender unit, back to the tool kit for an 8mm spanner, bollox there is'nt one, phone discribe to the wife the socket wrench and socket needed and wait until she arrives. Mean while a pissed up ex biker in the pub decides to come and help complete with fag now understands the words f*** off. Jan turns up with the right kit (what a star) off with the hatch (more fuel all over the grass re seat the seal tighten it all up rebuild the bike and slowly refill the tank phew fuel tight. Having bathed in unleaded and killed the grass on the bank I slunk away for a bath feeling a right divvy.
