well, not quite but it grabbed your interest didn't it? haha

Anyway, you may know that I decided a while ago to let my 800 go. Not an easy decision but a practical one, but one that none the less had to be made.

These are a few snaps I grabbed after the re-style I've just given it for her new owner - the white has gone - it's so 'last year' - and we've gone back to a triple black-ish stealth stylee. I'm hoping he will be happy with the result! The screen and winglets are off because the bike won't fit in my van with them on, but I think that without them the bike has a certain Mad-Max menace to it ..

Anyway - here ya go...

Kurt is collecting my 12 tomorrow morning :thumb

lol I concur, but you must agree it's a little bit posher than your average rat...

For them that's asking ...

The main panels have been finished in a satin black 'plastic friendly' paint. I'd originally wrapped them in a matt black vinyl, but while the finish was good the complexity of the compound curves of the panels was just too much to be able to get the film over and keep a consistency of finish. I had initially planned to use a gloss film, but it was just too shiny and looked - frankly - horrible, and picked up every blemish and nib underneath.

The other bits are finished in 3M satin finish carbon - this film is a bit thicker so can be persuaded into more complex profiles with the application of enough heat. I still have blisters on my fingertips...

I spent a long time with this scheme on the bike, there is something about it that just emphasises the darker side of the bike .

Great wrapping !! Just out of interest if I wanted to wrap something like say a front mudguard to make it look like carbon, would I be able to remove the wrap at a later date without damaging the the paintwork?

Haha ... yes, I like that, quiet bling lol...

Rushy - yes, as long as the paint is good underneath you'll be ok. Don't expect it to mask anything though, the film sticks where it touches and shows every imperfection and flaw underneath. From previous experience the paint on BMWs isn't so 'sticky' and when I removed one of the ORS decals it took a bit of pain with it. You can get some Di-Noc primer that helps it stick in really complex parts, but I didn't have any real problems, as I said the film is thick enough to stretch over most bumps and lumps.. When things get tough you need to de-stress the film by 'tempering' it with heat which helps keep it in place rather than contract and unstick itself...

What fun and games we had!
