After the referendum

Only as an intellectual exercise. You didn't have a vote this time and there's no logical reason to suggest that you will next time. Yes, of course as and when we achieve Independence, it'll have an effect on England and most likely Northern Ireland and Wales as well but perhaps as Edvard Munch has been suggesting tonight, England needs to get off its collective arse and do something about Westminster rather than leaving all the hard work to Scotland.

"When we get independence"............my God what a single focused view you have.
You need a beer with Toddy but for gods sake stay away from sharp objects.

Why do so many people in Scotland become so emotional about independence? - because after all is said and done that is what it's all about to the hard liners. I remember working with an Electronics Technician in the 1970s who had come down from Glasgow to work in Cambridgeshire - he was an angry young man (older than me at the time) all Braveheart stuff, I just didn't get it then and still don't now.

Have another Pimms :friday

Have another Pimms :friday

:) don't drink Pimms, is it a Scottish drink?

Just watched Alex Salmond's resignation speech - all he needed to say was that the majority of people of Scotland voted against independence and his judgement was wrong, but he didn't, he waffled on and seemed to be suggesting that the process should continue.

I hope we don't have to go through all this again in another few years. Lets leave it for another 300. I'm a little disappointed it wasn't a YES victory.
Lets now all get on with our lives, and have some reconciliation. At least the fecktards at Westminster have had their cages rattled.

Whats the betting that plans are afoot to relocate the nuclear sub base and other assets well ahead of another demand for independence.

More control via Westminster, this affects everyone not just Scots. Nothing like passing laws whilst you're not looking....

Via the amazing Rachel Robinson.Law to silence Scottish dissent goes through quietly today. I knew they would not let you get away with this again..".Respect For the Unemployed & Benefit Claimants
The Gagging Act @gaggingbill becomes law today meaning legitimate campaigns may be silenced [so we go from maximum participation in the Scottish Independence Referendum to silencing dissent in one fell swoop]
‪#‎Democracy‬ in Britain took a huge step backwards today as 10 Downing Street pushed through its right-wing Lobbying Act.
Human Rights activists including Respect For the Unemployed & Benefit Claimants have slamed the Act, which imposes draconian limits on the activities of organisations such as trade unions, charities and anti-racism campaigners in the run-up to the general election next May.
It will also slash the amount organisations can spend on initiatives such as newspaper advertising.
The Act will demand that organisations account for every penny spent — right down to postage.
But it places no restrictions on the amount of election propaganda newspapers can publish themselves — allowing the Conservatives within the newspaper industry unlimited freedom to manipulate ‪#‎voters‬.
Nor does it limit political parties’ election spending — meaning the ‪#‎Tories‬ can spend as many millions as their big-business supporters pump into their coffers.
It is a shameful that UK Parliament has allowed this legislation onto the statue book.
This shoddy and completely impractical Bill allows Tory donors and the politically motivated right-wing press to run rough shod over our democracy."

And it will..... :thumb

I suspect it will which is no bad thing but one thing you can be certain off is next time the process would not mean that less than 2 million people could make a decision that would effect 60 Million - Next time you'll find the 60 million will have more of a say in the outcome.

You want to walk out of the Union that's fine your choice, you want to walk out and dictate what you take from the unions assets and how we will need to adjust what we do then that's no longer just your choice.... Accepting that and recognising that it's not just about you might just get you an outcome that works

I think you're running ahead of yourself. The referendum was on the principle of independence. Nobody was dictating anything about how it would happen.

The division of assets would have been decided during negotiations afterwards.

Any chance of a version of this in English?

Agreed but it went ahead with to many assumptions and what ifs and 55Miilion that would be affected felt left out, bring them on the journey earlier and it's more likely to produce a result that works for all...

Will the NO voters now stand up and be counted to get the 'extra powers' that they believe Westminster have promised ?

Cut N paste will never be the same again without " Toddy" :(

Some say he's emigrated to Wales to carry on the fight.....:nenau

Guess he just didn't cut N paste enough in the end.... :comfort

Maybe Toddy is just as sick as me and has given up the ghost ,bad times to be a Scot :(.Ah feel like England have just bet us in the World cup final on penalties and Jimmy Hill was commentating.A shitebag nation:barf

Like or hate it it's called democracy in action. One side had to lose, now we get on with it as the Salmond himself said

I'm sure Toddy won't leave, he's a closet GS'er deep down

Actually, Thank's to the Scots, Huge changes are afoot and most people haven't even realised.

The incompetent Broon and other three numpties made wreckless promises that should never have been made to the people of Scotland in their panic to stop the break up of the UK.

They have now set in motion a chain of events that no one knows the outcome of. If Scotland gets even more devolved power it means England, Wales and N Ireland will also get the same devolved powers. It would be grossly unfair any other way.

Everyone agrees we can't have Scottish MPs voting on English affairs while only the Scots vote on Scottish affairs. For example, how can we have Scottish politicians voting to give their children free university education then coming to Westminster and voting to make English children pay for their further education? That means the Labour party lose more then 50 MPs in Westminster which they will fight tooth and nail to stop.

For our countries to be equal, England (and Wales and N Ireland) must have its own parliament with devolved powers the same as Scotland. So will that English parliament have a first minister like Scotland? Once England has a parliament and first minister why do we need Westminster and a prime minister? What would be the purpose of the prime minister and Westminster? The UK's parliament has existed for over 300 years, who gave Broon and the 3 numpties the right to destroy that system without asking us, the people? And who will be capable of creating the new federal states of the UK? Camoron, Millitwat, Clogg couldn't run a fecking bath yet alone write off our parliament and 300 years of history to replace it something better just because they say so and feck the people of our union.

Cheer up Big Jets, it will be a very long time until this croc of shit is sorted and the fat lady can sing. It has only just begun. :popcorn
