Aftermarket exhausts.

Hi guys, a little advice or your opinions required.

I want to change my exhaust end can. I'm not interested in one or two extra horses so i'm not going to the expense of changing the complete system. Nor am I too concerned about saving a small amount of weight as any aftermarket one will be lighter than standard.

So, I have seen cans from GPR, Scorpion, Two Brothers, and BOS. I have had Quill on previous bikes and they just quoted me £170 for Evo 2.

Anyone tried any of these? Or any recommendations?

A nice noise is what I'm after....

The OE exhaust is very good, and there are only one or two cans that are arguably better than the BM one (like say the akrapovic). Buy a cheap exhaust and you're more likely to fukc up your bike than improve it.

Keep the standard can and put a set of decatted headers on instead. You will get the deeper/throatier noise and a bit of extra performance as well. Win win.

Stick a Beowulf Warrior on. Cheap, easy to fit, looks great (in black) and sounds wicked! Does exactly what it says on the tin.

I changed to a carbon Quill end can and noticed how much lower down the rev range it would pull.
Changed to an Akro and it was even better.

It can not hurt to lose a lot of the weight either.

I have just bought a Twin cam and have a near new Akro if your intrested send me a PM.

Another + 1 for Beowulf

Matched to Keihan headers - much improved on standard set up. Louder, with a deeper sound, but without being too antisocial IMHO (still have the baffles in).

There is (or used to be) a tossers 10% discount as well.

Thanks for that chaps, some good ideas.
I realise that decatted headers is probably the best way to go and I may do this in time. Trouble is, I do think the standard can is a little large and cumbersome.

I also agree that in many ways you get what you pay for, and if cost was no issue I would go for an Akro.

I do like the look of that Quill and I have found them to be very good quality in the past (and half the price of an Akro). I think it will be between a Quill and a GPR. I have seen a GPR Powercone and i think it looks the dogs danglies.

Thanks for the offer of the Akro Nick, but mine is also a twin cam so I guess it will not fit.

Please let me know what you think when you fit a new end can to your twin cam.
I would like to lose the weight and see what improvements it makes.

They used my bike to do the link pipe! I'm very happy with this product and it is soooo easy to keep clean. They use a very polished stailess steel which seems to shrug off the dirt, especially on the inside where the usual crud bakes on.

a metalworker took the original can apart, removed the baffle and re-welded it together. Looks brill and sounds awesome. hee hee
