The MRA Vario is very good, but so many settings I haven't found the ideal one yet.....and of course at different speeds it needs to be on a different setting...:augie

NN High & Wide

NN High & Wide screen is excellent for me.
I have it set it the way that the wind touches top of my Shark RSI helmet - somewhere in the middle of possible range of adjustment.
That way there's still some wind noise and flies are still messing the top of my visor at high speeds but it completely eliminated the "sucking" effect compared to screen in top position :thumb2. In the top position the sucking effect was so bad that I felt like it would take off my helmet and jacket at 100mph.
Cross wind is OK as I was in big thunder storm with my girlfriend last weekend and except for expected lean to compensate for 60mph cross wind there was no unpredictable shaking present.

More importantly my girlfriend likes the setup very much and she told me that compared to Triumph Sprint 1050 we used to ride this is a big improvement. Now the only worry on long trips is to keep my girlfriend awake so she doesn't get asleep and fall off the bike  I fitted NN Winglets as well.

BTW matches my slate grey 2008 GS quite well :thumb

Went for the GS Adventure screen in the end.

After plenty of online research and talking to people I decided to go for an Adventure screen in the end, I got a good deal on a new one and fitted it myself. If you are considering one its a great screen to go for an is dead easy to fit. (dealer want to hit me £70 to fit it, don't think so!). The screen is taller and wider and work very well with the wings. What is bloody expensive is the extra support bracket need for the GSA screen, it cost about as much as the screen! Anyway very happy and well worth it.

gs 1200 screen

I am new to this forum and to GS ownership having been converted to BMW after 30 years of riding, should have done it sooner I know..

I have noticed the GS buffeting effect and want to fit a GSA screen does anyone have one for sale as they are rather pricey from the dealers inc support or anyone know where I may source one.

Best for pillion ?

Any views on what higher replacement screen for a new GS1200 would give least buffeting to a pillion. Very important message this as my new bike depends on it !!

Go for a Givi Airflow. Much much cheaper and adjustable. Lots of threads on here and Cieran at DK is your man. Great service.

Getting a good screen on the GS it's quite problematic, and it can be ultimately a lot more expensive not buying the best screen from the beginning.
I learned this lesson the hard way : the Aeroflow is my 4th windscreen on my 2008 GSA (I am 6,1) and is the only one that really gets the job done properly . For me the stock screen (with/ whithout TT extender) , the Wunderlich Progressystem (with/without TT extender) , the Ceebaileys, were just money badly spent.
Plus, improved aerodynamics = improved fuel consumption = the screen (and or/ other similar mods) pays for itself in no time, if you really ride your bike.

:agree
I'm 6'4" and have tobinators and Aeroflow.............the answer for me.
No buffeting, and visor up riding, to 60.
Added benefit.....should we ever get hot weather, 3 seconds slips it down and get the breeze.

Get an AF330 by Givi, its the dogs dangly bits, also consider winglets.

Rowen, how much did you end up paying for the adv screen + bracket? Care to share the info where u found the good deal from?

Go for the airflow it transformed my 09 gs its fantastic . Theres no buffeting and no need for ear plugs anymore.

+ 1 for the GSA screen and winglets added, no buffeting at all. Did pay the full price from the dealer though, expensive, but works for me.

Had a NN High & Wide, not too good in crosswinds. Now have a Givi Airflow and winglets, absolutely brilliant for me and pillion and on hot days you can adjust it lower for more cool air ventilation.

I've got ADV screen and winglets on mine, very happy with the result and they will be going on my new dohc which comes on the 14th.

Bought the screen S/H but as new condition £80 winglets were £60 maufactured my own brace £5 Total £145,so it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.

Steve.

Perfect one is the eirflow. looks a bit like a riot shield but did 1800 miles in france mostly with the visor open, little noise and far less tiring. loads of links on here and it is about £130 delivered.

Pillion view of GIVI screen

Ta for all the replies. Anybody had any bad affects on the pillion, in the past I have noticed that what is good for the driver sometimes is not great for the seat of power behind.

She is only 5 foot 4 so not a giant towering above me, physically anyway.

my wife and I did over 2000 miles on the 1200GS down to Italy and back with an airflow screen fitted, plus winglets. She was of the opinion that the air was flowing more smoothly and so was more comfortable for her. Incidentally she is about five foot five inches tall.

:thumb2 GS +Airfow + winglets (do make a difference) = 90+ :augie visor up no problem....pillion Tosset is 5'7" happy on the bike all around France and on motor way at speed....no doubt the GSA screen looks better and if it worked nearly as well as the Airflow I would have gone for that option....but it doesn't (for me).

Cheers
