Bought a new R1200GS TE in December, brilliant machine, dont know why I didnt do it earlier.. only thing I miss is a bit more noise from the exhaust, the Akrapovic looks a bit expensive to me, what are your thoughts on a more reasonably priced alternative.

Must make a nice noise and shouldnt involve hours of labour fitting it.

Thanks

EBay may well be your friend.

I picked up a Termignoni Relevance in Carbon finish for under £300. With baffles out it sounds fabulous (in an angry bee kind of way) without being obnoxious in my opinion ha ha!

Fitting was just a case of remove standard can hanger and exhaust connector bolt and bolt on the new one. Carbon heat shield went on existing BMW bolt points. Off with one and on with the other in under 30mins.

One word of warning, I've found as its smaller than the standard can it seems to get covered in more crap, I guess as less of a slab side than OEM can so dirt can get through gaps and over it.

Lot of people seem to like the Yoshi's too. eBay has all sorts from less known manufacturers for less money too.

The LeoVince stainless silencer is a great exhaust ! Steer clear of the carbon one! (or any carbon ones)

crotchrocket, it's your fault I'm looking for a new exhaust, watched your YouTube video last night and thought the sound was brilliant, is it a LeoVince you have fitted ?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but can I ask why to avoid Carbon? Is it a looks thing you don't like or is there a technical aspect I've overlooked as I think mine looks and sounds great and surely thats all the point of these aftermarket cans' its down to individual opinion. (yes i know some are added for performance gains etc...) If there is a tech reason why not though, I'd like to know as obviously have one strapped to my bike ha ha!

Longevity. Carbon cans tend to delaminate through time as the heat kills them. Also, they're not too good at standing up to the exhaust pulses of a big twin.

Cheers Schtum, good to know.....kinda makes me happy I wrapped my OEM one and stored it safely (rather than selling it) in case it needs to go back on in a hurry.

I loved the carbon silencer for about 10000 miles, until it melted!! A couple of GS LC owners on the Facebook group had the same issue with other manufacturer carbon cans. I got my carbon silencer replaced with a stainless one under warranty.

Yikes! Completely understand why your steering clear.....

Hi
I've just had a Fuel exhaust made (they used my bike as a pattern).
VERY happy with is - very nice sound, burrblle like - with baffles in. I havent taken the baffles out as yet.
The baracketing on it is very basic at the monent however the guys there are about to get them laser cut too look really smart.
British made & with real care & love.
I also think the price is very competitive compared to others made in Britain vs China or where ever.

I'll try & get the some pictures on asap, although its now covered in salt muck as I was out on it yesterday over in West Cumbria a warm 0 degrees.

I would certainly reccomend Fuel - they recommended metal vs carbon as the latter is more fragile & should it break whilst on a 'tour' you may well be stuffed!

Well done that man, I've been hoping Fuel would get an exhaust sorted for lc Gs :clap:clap:clap
Had Fuel end cans on my previous bikes and always been very pleased.
I will keep an eye on their website.

That sounds like an option, what was the price for the GSA?

I'm uncertain what the final figure would be - I suggest contacting Louise who will be able to provide price & date when they will be available - say where you heard it from as there was some interest in getting a discount should there be sufficient numbers of people interested.
Wish you the best!

Cheers Kieth, have emailed Louise....

I emailed them a few days ago about an exhaust for my LC GSA and got this reply from Louise:

"Thank you for the enquiry. We just covered this bike model last week and it will be available to purchase mid-March. The delay is because we will be awaiting parts back from the laser cutters and powder coating plant. If you keep an eye on both our website and Facebook page it will be on there as soon as it is available. At this stage, I am not sure if it will be available in all ranges or just a select few. We will no the price structure in more detail then too and this will be online when available. Many thanks."

I'd have been more impressed if she'd said they would email me and provide an update once exhausts were available, but I'll follow it up in due course if I haven't picked up something else in the meantime.

Same response as I received. Obviously a standard format.

I got an identical response today, I was happy with the response.....
