This is a really good event at Aintree racecourse. I haven't decided whether to enter or not but either way, thought it was worth a mention.
Nominal to get in, head for the grandstand not the Melling road its run down in front of the stands.

www.merseymotorcycleclub.co.uk has more details.

If I'm not in it, I'll be there on my blue and white 1150, if I am in it, I'll be on my Duc.

I usually set the bikes off from the startline- Mrs Haydw was deputy clerk of the course last year. There is a promo poster out doing the rounds with a fat bloke in orange overalls with a silly blue hat on (that would be me then....) Agree its a great event- shame I will be missing it- will be in Austria at the time.

Well worth a day out- loads of different bikes sprinting and very good displays of bikes as well.

By the way- its the 2nd round of the Aintree motorcycle racing club championships this saturday- to get to the circuit you need to go down the Melling Road, not the main Aintree racecourse entrance for the sprint. If the last round was anything to go by, it should be a great day. I am sector marshal at the first corner for this meeting- considering the number of accidents there were las time at the first corner I may be in for an interesting day.

Haydw......can the punters see the race track? I went end of 2007 and the grass was that long and the twattin' golf club had planted all over the place so it was a poor race watching day all round...just the first two bends ( mostly crash helmets behind the grass !! ) and then that was that :(

Hope it is better....always went to most of the meetings and really enjoyed them:bounce1

If the weather is good I'll be down at Aintree this saturday (after getting the red devil its MOT) if the weather is really good I'll be off to North Wales camping / climbing - if the weather is really crap, I'll stay in and catch up on a weeks TT coverage :)

You are right- spectators can only see half the circuit. The grass has been trimmed and a banking has been removed on the exit of the last corner, plus you can watch at the second corner.

I can get all round the circuit and see everything- mind you I am in an orange suit picking them up when they fall off, or waving flags. You get a completely different perspective when they are 10ft away speeding past you. Been on flags half way down the straight is amazing- the superbikes have to be doing 150mph plus.
