Not a problem, I'm just curious. Today I drove through a swarm of flying ants or similar, they were all over the front of the bike and my visor. A few hours later I drove through a summer thunder storm and within minutes water was passing my summer gloves and up my sleeve. Back home cleaning the bike I started to think what happens to all the water and flying things that are caught in the air box trumpets. Looking at the parts fiche these horns feed into a box sitting on top of the filter element.
As far as I am aware the filter is paper and will not last to long if constantly soaked in water. Our old GS 650 and new F650 have the inlets masked behind the plastics for better protection.
Last question, with their location do they perform a ram air function similar to the new generation of superbikes?
