Hi guys
Anyone had experience of these ? -I'm fed up of feeling like I'm sitting on a park bench (with one slat missing) as the standard BMW GSA seat is just uncomfortable as fuk, or maybe I just need a bigger arse ? :nenau

Personally I can't praise them highly enough.
I've had mine since 2007, done 10s of thousands of bike miles on it and it is the only piece of equipment I wouldn't be without.
The secret is that you must not put too much air into it. Literally just enough to raise your arse off the seat so that the load is equally spread.
If you put too much in you roll around.
If you get it right 300 or 400 mile days are no longer a pain in the arse!

Yup. Bloody brilliant. Just done a couple of 350 mile 10-11 hrs days with. No pain or hot patches.
Won't be without it for long days.

It's a strange sensation at first, being a bit 'floaty' on the bike. But get the amount of air right an it's lurvely.

Excellent.
As mentioned not too much air or you glide around a bit too much.
Trick is to sit on the cushion and let a little air out at a time until you get the right comfort for you.

agree with the previous posts.
You'll notice the air cushion more on rough twisties than long straights - it may feel disconcerting at first.
I thought i had a slow puncture / loose wheel / riding on diesel sort of feeling until i got the amount of air right and simply 'used to it'.
Pillion much happier too as i dont fidget anywhere near as much. ;)

+1 for the airhawk.

Had mine for 3 years now and it has performed faultlessly; just don't put too much air in it....you'll only require a few breaths to create the ideal 1/2 - 3/4 inch (for me cos I'm not typical tosser size!! :green gri) layer of airy delight & comfort.

The inner neoprene component can be 'freshened' with a couple of wet wipes, and the outer can be machine washed @ 30 degrees....if you so desire.

+1 , I even use mine to sit watching the racing , brilliant piece of kit that genuinely delivers , would definately recommend

I agree with all above - the air hawk will double your riding miles prior to baboon arse syndrome.
Airhawk was developed by roho who make cushions for paraplegic wheelchair users - designed so peeps with no feeling or movement do not get bed sores. So it should help the average tosser from fidgeting!

Thanks guys. :beerjug:
Will get one. Which model is best for 13 plate GSA - standard park bench seat ?? :nenau

Is this the right one for a GSA?

I see they are available in either the cheaper Polyurethane @ £89 or Premium Neoprene at £180

That's the one. I have the neoprene version but they are even more expensive now  The cheaper version was not available when I got mine but I would be tempted to go that way given the option.

Great piece of kit, and remember, you can use it on any bike. I can do day long 7-800 miles using mine. As said previously, amount of air is crucial, you will find that you need far less than you would think.

I have had one of the cheaper plastic ones for years, only gets used for long rides but still works fine despite a couple of repairs with bicycle tube patches. Only problem I find is with the cover wetting out (in the rain :)) and one of the tags for securing it ripping off.
I had a friend who was going round the world on a VStrom and had one of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/PUTNAMS-INFLATABLE-STADIUM-CUSHION-seating/dp/B0027MCF7A - and she loved it, preferring it to the airhawk.

r1150 gs normal seat 80 miles and it was agony , Airhawk 450 miles a day no problem or pain
r1200gsa normal seat 100 miles and agony , Airhawk 550 miles in 8 hours , got to the hotel , got changed and went out for a walk they are that good

Done the deal. Bought an Air Hawk, neoprene version. Very expensive, but hopefully well worth it.
Will let you know how it goes!

nothing better than a seat pussy!:beerjug:

actually I have a couple of airhawks, that I am not selling as well,

the only bike I have that is more comfortable without the airhawk, is the breva 1100,

I bought my airhawks from the states, had it shipped to someone in the states address, when they were working there, then they posted it to me as a gift, they cost £110 each including postage a few years ago, for the more expensive ones!

I use one on my Gs 800, a super piece of kit. If you buy one buy the Neoprene (dearer) model as it will last longer. My rubber one had a leak which i managed to fix but by all accounts the neoprene lasts longer
