Thinking of getting a couple of Airhawk Seat pads for my 1200GS front & pillion, read a lot of praise on the forum but what about size?. Should I go for the Large or Medium for the front? Has anybody fitted them to a 1200GS & what size is best? also is it a worthwhile buy I was either going to get the Airhawks or another Corbin? been OK with Corbin previously on an 1100GS but numb bum did strike on really long runs, we have a 4,000mile trip coming up soon and don't want to suffer for a couple of weeks. Cheers - Dave W.

Tried one for the wife on our 1150, but she didn't rate it and we sent it back. Now we have a modified seat c/o Tony Archer which she finds better than original, but she still suffers numb bumb syndrome after an hour. Airhawk £120+..Tony Archer conversion..£70.....mmmmm. Just my 5p worth.

David I used the airhawk 2 on my trip to Garmisch this year and man was it good, I have the meduim, which is what i believe is recommended for the gs12. They do take a bit of getting used to and getting the air just right.

But I only use it for longer rides say over 50 miles on tarmac else it can be a pain in the ass as it adds approx 1.5 inches to seat height and is really designed for longer distance stuff.

I chose the airhawk 2 as it was v cheap 49 quid i think just to try out.

I would suggest medium for both front and rear but make sure the rear is a pillon shape. large will be too big.

hope helps.

On my 1150 im using a large cruiser on the front & medium cruiser on the back. Im sure this would be the same for your faster, lighter & more nimble 1200.:)

Try a sheepskin. Easily available at most markets, cheap - cut it to size and shape - no more numb bum.

I got a double size skin for £35 - used it for a 10 day tour of Austria this year doing 300 miles a day every day and no numb arse.

Seatpad/Seat debate

Thanks for the info guys, after much reseach and headbanging, I weakened and have ordered another Corbin. Thought process proceeded more or less along these lines - Airhawks sound pretty good once you are used to them, if the other half gives it the thumbs down I am snookered, not sure about looks though but I suppose who cares if its comfy. The Corbins are more dosh, look the part and if its like the last one will be OK for 500 mile stints with a little bit of shuffling. So just waiting for delivery now.
Cheers

Probably a bit late for me to chip in with the mention that they have a money back guarantee if you don't get on with them then...
