I am thinking of buying an airhawk for my upcoming 'highland' trip.............are there any other add ons i could consider??(something similar to an airhawk........a copy?)
Who is cheapest airhawk UK seller?
How long does shipping take from US of A?

This obviously increases the seat height but does anybody know by how much in real terms (i.e. when you're sitting on the thing :D ) ?

Cheers

Dick

My Airhawk is absolutely the dogs danglies. I took it off on Sunday as I was carrying a pillion and thought it may be a little bit uncomfortable for them (I have an Adventure so the single seat is not as comfortable for a pillion anyway). After doing only 230 miles with several breaks it felt like my arse was on its last legs!
The "height is only minimally different as you are only supposed to put enough air in to just raise you off the saddle.
It is now very much back on my back - stuff any future pillions:D

Thanks GT. I must try one out though before shelling out 150 squid.

So who's got one near (ish) me?

Cheers

Dick

Guitarman,

I'm nowhere near you so can't help directly but you should check out the airhawk "you bet your ass it's good" (can you tell it's a US company?) guarantee.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can get your money back if it doesn't do it for you. Worth calling them and finding out what the terms of the guarantee are.

If you're ever Cambridge way you're more than welcome to try mine!

Thanks for that. :D

I just called bykebits and they confirmed the money back guarantee so I bought one. Longish ride this weekend methinks. Report to follow.

Interesting that they told me that sales to BMW riders are about 4 times greater than to riders of other bikes.

So... I feel a poll coming on....

Didnt M&P used to sell an airseat for around £30 ?

Well, 2 weeks in and a few hundred miles done.

The jury's out at the moment but first impressions are very good. Getting the pad positioned and inflated correctly seem to be crucial.

An unexpected bonus is that I'm using it on my office chair and in the car and it is so comfortable I'll keep it for that even if I don't use it on the bike!

Cheers

ps I've seen those M&P things up close and they really aren't anywhere near the build quality of the Airhawk but you pays yer money and all that :D

Had one of those m&p things. Used on a XJR1300 and it was very good. Tried it on a R1150GS, looked awful and caused more discomfort than anything else - also punctured. I have only heard good things about Airhawk though.

I love my Airhawk and as Guitarman says you end up using them all over the place not just on the bike.

My favourite trick is putting them on top of a pannier (obviously not the plasitc system cases  ) makes a perfect camping seat and it's always comfy.

How are you fixing them to the bike ?
Just bought one from a bloke on ADVRider - hasn't come yet tho.
I've seen the pics with the four loops on the cover and was thinking of bodging something with QR buckles.
Anyone got a better idea

They don't really need permanent fixing as they have a non slip base so it won't budge when you are sitting on it.

I tied a piece of elastic between the two loops at the front and hook it between the saddle and tank and have another piece of elastic from the back loops to the helmet holder and that little loop on the frame (LHS) with a small bungee hook.

This just stops me kicking it off the seat and into a muddy puddle  when I'm getting on and off the bike. Takes no time to take on and off. I lock it in a pannier when leaving the bike.

Sounds like the answer to all my problems, the chair at this here computer is arse numbingly solid. In fact I might just buy a bigger pair of jeans and have an airhawk permantly attached :D
