Has anyone tried the Airhawk seat cushions on an 1150GS (Not Adventure) if so what size fits best - when I measured the seat up the small size cushion seems just a bit small (for pillion seat) but the next size up seems too big. Thinking about it mainly for SWMBO's pillion seat but may be nice to use on front when solo too.

I have the medium size and Uncle Albert believes it is exactly the right size for the pillion seat, I have no opinion as I didn't see it on the seat. Its the right size for the front though, unless like him you have bollok deficiency syndrome and like the seat pad to extend forward to compensate

OK I'll try and be clearer...

When I was buying mine I asked aaround and was told by a member on here (Gerry Huxtable) that the small one was the right size for an 1150GS front seat. But ROHO (Airhawk Manufacturer in the States and the UK distributer both said Large was the right size.

So I measured my Sareant seat and opted instead for the medium (not sure if you can get that in the UK). On the Spain trip I've just come back from my seat was tried by two people and sized up for Uncle Albert as a pillion seat (he already has the large pad for his front seat). Any clearer?

Hi Adrian. Yes, You need the Large Cruiser on the front & the Medium Cruiser on the back. Ive pop riveted some hooks from B&Q under the seat & attatched black cord to keep the airhawk secure. I had a custom seat on my Africa twin & now on my 1150 & niether cured numbum. Properly inflated i feel the airhawk is the cheapest & maybee the only cure to numbum. I cant believe just how good it is.

How much do you inflate the airhawk? I've been trying different amounts, and I'm not certain what's best. I've tried it from about 10% full to 100% full.

Aside from feeling as if I might topple with it at 100%, it's quite comfortable.

What's your conclusion?

According to the instructions you should allow only enough air to create a small air gap underneath the rider - I have to say I haven't been won over by this seat yet, it seems acceptable in the cruise but when I was pressing on in the twists and turns of the Picos I found it inhibited my riding - well that's the excuse I'm using anyway

Au contraire mon ami, I noticed this on the first day and from then it lived in my top box until we arrived back in Plymouth - that said there are some of those I rode with that Valen-fekin-tino Rossi would have trouble staying with.

I am somewhat stunned about the amount of bandwidth talked about non-ABS/ABS or Servo-Assit/Non-Servo Assist brakes on these pages when so many don't even know where the levers are to operate these things.

And I'll chuckle every time I hear Airhead hero Cookie say the first thing he would upgrade on an Airhead is the front brake - makes oi larf

Actually I have mine inflated to about 90% for those twisties... the moment you turn in, I gently slide inwards moving the CoG down and in, making it effortless. You need to get used to it, and in the beginning it's a bit strange, but once you've got the hang, it's fun and easy!!!

I found the quickest & best method to correctly inflate my Airhawk was to put it on a flat hard wood garden seat. I then started with it too underinflated & rocked my cheeks from side to side gradualy inflaiting untill i could feel half an inch of air under the hardest part of my arse. Doing this on a hard surface is better as your not getting fooled by the softness of the bike seat. Its all a matter of common sence, or have i got my brain up my arse.
