Hi
thinking of buying an airhead (just missed a great one from GADGET)
so just some basic info really 80 or 100? any years better or worse than others?
Gadgets bike had the rounded rocker covers which i think looks better
did particular years have these?
I have only had 1150s and 1200s so know very little about these but have had other airheads in the past
any info gratefully recieved
cheers

Try and ride one before you buy if you haven't had one before. Airheads are slightly bizarre, agricultural machines and aren't for everybody.

The paralever machines are far more usable than the earlier bikes and generally fetch less money. 80 or 100 is down to personal preference. I find the 80 paralver to be underpowered but others prefer them.

I have an 1100 and an 1150.... Just picked up an 80g/s and absolutely love it. Certainly not as quick as either of the bigger bikes but it sure is fun to blast around the lanes on! Never tried a 10o so cannot offer a comparison I'm afraid.

I still remember the feeling of horror and regret as I rode away on the first airhead I bought, an R80/7. Handling, steering and gear change were all very different to anything I'd had before. By the time I'd got home - about 5 miles - I was convinced that I should get rid of it straight away. It took well over a week before I got used to it and started to enjoy riding it.
