So after Wapping had kindly posted up some info on

GPX - Rhön und Spessart - A little south of Fulda, a little east of Frankfurt

I thought i would have a look. Wessie has kindly rec the first place to stay. Prob 2 nights

I thought we would have a look round here after so if anyone has any recommendations for places to stay that would be great. Maybe 4 or five nights
and looking at being around 250 miles from Rotterdam for the last night.

Cheers Doc

From Wessie’s hotel to Rotterdam is 340 miles.

Leaving yourself 250 miles, maybe means you’ve not gone too far the day before.

Cologne, would look roughly right:

As an area, I can recommend the area around Siegen and Bad Berleburg. I can't give you a hotel recommendation as the place I used is no longer a hotel.

@Wapping from the google maps link I think he will be in Bischofsheim in der Rhön before he heads back towards Europoort.

Anywhere along the axis, Essen, Düsseldorf, Cologne is around halfway. Three big German cities, much of which look quite new, thanks to the attention of Harris.

I'll have a look around those areas Wessie thanks.

Bischofsheim in der Rhön must be a bit like Wangerland. Nobody has been.

I think the problem is that it’s a huge area.

Can you narrow it down a bit please, as I am a bit confused as to what you are looking for. So far, I think we have:

A. Arrive Rotterdam

B. I think go straight to Wessie’s hotel at Freudenberg, to stay for two nights. That is 530 km or 330 miles

IMG_6244.jpeg

C. I think (but I am really not sure) you then go from Freudenberg to Bischofsheim in der Rhön. That is 170 km or 105 miles

D. Then I think you go from Bischofsheim in der Rhön back to Rotterdam. That is 570 km or 355 miles.

What I think you are asking for is a hotel between Bischofsheim in der Rhön and Rotterdam, in a place about 250 miles from Rotterdam?

Viewed another way, your entire holiday so far goes:

Rotterdam > Freudenberg (to stay for two nights) > Bischofsheim in der Rhön (to stay for X nights?) > To somewhere 250 miles from Rotterdam (to stay for one night) > Rotterdam

Thats right thanks.
Maybe 3 or 4 nights around this area Bischofsheim in der Rhön and was asking if anyone had any ideas on where to stay.

The whole area around Bischofsheim in der Rhön is alive with hotels, just as the whole area is alive with routes to ride.

Tap on a few in Google maps, read the reviews and see if the hotel might suit you.

Doc, I guess your interest in staying in Bischofsheim in der Rhön, comes from this post:

If so:

A. Germany is a very big country. The area around the post is huge, just on its own. It’s a bit of a leap of faith that anyone on UKGSer has ever been through Bischofsheim in der Rhön, let alone stayed there.

B. Bischofsheim in der Rhön, is just one of a number of places or routes that I could have chosen to start a thread on. It just happen to pop up in a magazine I was flicking through. The area is littered with places and routes, just as say the Black Forest or Harz areas are.

C. The article suggests a hotel. I guess it’s where the author of the piece stayed:

I looked it up on Google. It’s not far away.

Here’s the hotel’s website:

Have a look and see what you make of it. To me it looks (at least from the website) like a farm that has been converted into a hotel, which suggests it might stand on its own, in a rural location. Places like this are often popular on UKGSer with people who “Don’t do cities and towns, me”.

Even if this hotel is a bit too ‘rural’ or you don’t want to be woken up in the morning by mooing horses, there is a load of hotels close by:

Thanks again,
I will have a look and start to make plans for the trip.
As for rural dont mind but would be nice at the end of the day to have a walk out and have a few places to choose from for meals ect.
